I apologise in advance for writing another football related post for this week’s Wednesday’s Wardrobe but Master Frugal has had his Boro shirt on almost non-stop since we told him last week that he was off to Wembley to see them play in the Championship Play Off Final on Monday just gone.

They had an early start on Monday as Wembley’s a long way from us – they had to get from our house to the Riverside stadium first and then on from there to Wembley on one of the supporters coaches. They had to leave our house before 5am which made me a little bit grateful that I’d chosen to stay at home instead!

They got to Wembley with a few hours to spare so they had a wander round the stadium itself, met some ex Boro players, bumped into a few friends from school and ended up sitting outside the stadium in the sun to soak up some of the atmosphere.

This was the pre-match selfie they sent me just before kick off….

It all went downhill quite quickly though with two goals from Norwich in the first twenty minutes or so. The half time selfie they sent me wasn’t nearly as happy….

I can’t (or won’t) even share the full time photos with you because there were tears of devastation from at least one of them – the poor little things were absolutely gutted!
I’m not going to lie and say the result didn’t ruin the day because at the moment, that’s all they can focus on. But they were so lucky to be there when thousands couldn’t get tickets and I hope that in a little while they’ll realise that it’s not the end of the world and that I’m sure Boro will bounce right back and be in the running again next year.
Welcome to the life of a Boro fan. 😉

Aww. I'm sure even though they're sad in that moment, they'll still look back on the memory with happiness. 🙂
How lucky that they were there. It must have been a fantastic atmosphere. Shame it didn't go the way they wanted it to, but I bet they still had a good time.
Aww! Exciting day out, but for the score line.
Sounds like they had a good time – shame about the result – but definitely a day they will remember!
Oh no, those half time selfies!! I'm sure they will remember it all fondly in time and what an amazing experience it was.
awww how pants that their team didn't come in! .. will keep my fingers crossed for smiles for next time x
Oh dear, those sad faces. Such is the way with football.
Aww, sorry it didn't go their way 🙁 dedication getting up that early though!
They look very cute in their kits, despite the sad faces!
Oh bless them, those sad faces. Fingers crossed their team does better next time. How wonderful to be at Wembley though. Mind you last time I was there I did the 6 hour Danceathon for Comic Relief (nearly died!).
Just saw your comment about the macro photos. I have a 60mm macro lens although I used to use the macro setting on my SLR. Monthly macro linky up on Monday if you fancy it – I already run a couple of other photo Linkies for my sins x
Aw its always such a shame when your team doesn't do as well as you hoped.
I have joined in with the linky! I hope Boro do better next time you go to see them!
