Today was supposed to have been a bit of a quiet day at home.
It’s seven years today since my Mam died and I’ve been feeling a bit down all week just knowing that the day was coming up. But instead of staying at home and dwelling on it, we went ice skating with some good friends and we had an amazing time.
Master Frugal took two steps on the ice and decided that it wasn’t for him but after watching everyone else, he decided that he was missing out and got himself back on the ice. Over the two and a half hours we were there, the improvement in his confidence was amazing and he can now almost skate without holding the edge. He just said to me that today was the most awesome day in the history of the world which is a massive improvement on what I thought the day was going to be like.
Miss Frugal constantly amazes me with her willingness to try new things – she was on the ice within seconds of having her boots tied up and was skating up on down easily with no wobbles at all. She’s so confident that she can do little spins already, can speed skate round the rink in 48 seconds (I know this because she made me time her) and she only fell down once when she was showing off.
We’ve had a much better day than I was expecting today and thinking about it, that’s the best tribute that we could give to my Mam.

What a perfect way to celebrate someone's life – a day with your most precious family. That is the way we honour Dad's anniversary – and fair play to MAster Frugal for giving it another go!
It's great that you could have some fun with your kids whilst thinking of your mum, I bet she would have enjoyed the day too!
I'm glad that your day turned out that well. It looks great fun indeed and I love Miss Frugals outfit. x
