When I saw this weeks theme for the Gallery was colour, I thought of this picture straight away, even though I may have shared it with you before at some point in the past. My children often tell me that they love having ginger hair, they love that people come up to us in the street and tell them what beautiful hair they have and they love that not many other people in school have the same colour hair as them.
At this point I could get on my soap box and tell you that I’ve come across some ridiculously titled facebook groups lately, the most recent of which being ‘Always be yourself (unless you’re ginger, then be someone else)’ or I could remind you of the whole Tesco Christmas card debacle the year before last where they ended up withdrawing a controversial card from their stores due to the level of offence it caused and the number of complaints they recieved about it – I can’t remember the exact message but I think it was something along the lines of ‘Santa loves all children – even ginger ones’.
But I’m not going to do that 😉 I’m going to tell you that having ginger hair is one of the things (just one of them) that makes my children unique and special and it should be celebrated. So here’s my ginger tribute, to my two beautiful little gingernuts.

Just wanted to say my youngest dd age 2 has red hair and is the cutest little thing for it, not in spite of it. She suits It so well. My eldest dd age 5 has mousey hair and equally suits it. I get stopped daily by ppl complimenting my daughter's beautiful red hair. Go gingers!, ps love ur site! Xx

Lovely photo. It has taken me all my life to realize red heads are beautiful as as a child I got called all sorts of names because of my red hair(auburn) and I hated it. Now my hair is darker and more like brown people don't believe I was ever red. I am lucky my son got the gene and has the most beautiful colour hair and except for once when he was a baby nobody has been horrible about it, I was very upset when this lad shouted Ahhh Ginger whilst we were out walking but now realize he is jealous as we are special xx

I do think it's when you get older that you appreciate it more isn't it? I just don't understand how people can possibly think it's OK to be rude or mean about it!
Great photos. I don't get why people make fun of people with red hair. I suppose they are just jealous because it is such a rarity that only very special people get red hair (can you guess I'm a red head LOL!)

My 8yr old son and 5yr daughter have the exact same hair colour, which is absolutely gorgeous. I usually have some sort of comment whilst I'm out and about with them. Most people comment on how wonderful the colour of their hair is, but some daft people think its ok to say something insensitive. I think your photo is beautiful and cant wait to show the kids.
We have the same experiences when we're out and about – it's usually little old ladies who like to stop them and tell them how gorgeous their hair is x x
