One of the things I love about this Small Wins series is how quick and doable each little action is. These aren’t big changes or complicated money-saving tricks — they’re small habits that quietly save you money without making life feel harder.
And if you already do this week’s small win, then you get extra brownie points and can skip ahead feeling smug. 😀

This week’s small win is something I do all the time and probably mention it at least once a month on here as it’s made such a difference to me over the years…
Before you buy anything online, take a couple of seconds to check a cashback site like TopCashback to see if you can get cashback on whatever you’re buying.
It’s honestly one of the easiest money-saving habits you can build, and once you get into the routine of checking before you buy, it becomes second nature.
Here’s how cashback sites work in plain English
When you click through a cashback site before making a purchase, the retailer pays the cashback site a small commission for sending them a customer. The cashback site then shares a chunk of that commission with you.
It’s as simple as that and there’s nothing shady about it, I promise!
Remember…
- You’re not doing anything extra.
- You’re not spending more.
- You’re not signing up for anything weird.
You’re literally earning money on a purchase you were already going to make.
My personal setup
I use TopCashBack for almost everything, and it’s worked really well for me.
My biggest wins are when I use TopCashBack to click through to a comparison website where I compare prices annually for insurance renewals and energy price comparisons. I get a cheaper deal AND earn money from TopCashBack for switching to that cheaper deal.
I also have the TopCashBack Chrome extension installed, which makes it even easier. Whenever I go to buy something online, a little pop-up appears to tell me if cashback is available. I’m then redirected to the TopCashBack site to sign in and then straight back to the site I was about to buy something from within about ten seconds and it’s as easy as that to earn cashback.
It saves me so much time because I don’t even have to remember to check — the extension does the reminding for me.
I’ve earned everything from a few pence on small bits to a decent amount on hotel bookings, broadband deals and insurance renewals. It can be hit and miss with timings and amounts, but over the course of a year it really does add up.
If you want to give it a go, feel free to use my refer-a-friend link:

(You’ll usually get a little bonus when you join and save your first bit of cashback.)
Even if you only do it occasionally, it’s still a win — you’re getting money back for something you were already planning to buy.
Let me know if you use cashback apps already or if you’re trying it for the first time. It’s such an easy little habit to build. 😀
Join me next week for the next Small Win in the series — another tiny, low-effort habit that’ll save you money without changing much at all.
