The great Christening gift dilemma….
Last month we were invited to a very special little boys christening and I wanted to get him the perfect Christening gift - the only problem was that I had no idea what the perfect gift was!I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that I spent hours, literally hours, looking round the internet for the perfect present and I had a list as long as my arm of gifts that I liked but none of them really stood out as 'the one'. The problem was that I wanted something a little bit different that he could keep forever that showed how special we think he is. The sort of gift that if I'd been … [Read more...]
#WeLoveWales – by Miss and Master F….
In the two week's school holiday last month we went to Wales. We've never been to Wales before so we were very excited. After that, we stayed in a castle (Ruthin Castle.) At the castle,we saw some peacocks 3 males and 5 female. The males were trying to impress the women by showing their feathers and shaking them. We helped a member of staff feed them bread and they ate out of our hands. We liked that bit.The room was amazing, however, did you know we had our own room. It was right next door to Mam and Dad's room and we watched a cop show on the TV but then Mam … [Read more...]
50 Amazing Date night ideas….
It seems to me that the older the kids get, the harder it is for us to spend time together as a couple on our own.I must admit that I always thought it would be the other way round and that as they got older we'd have more 'couple' time together but actually, they go to bed later now which cuts down on time together on a night and when we do plan to go out it can seem a shame not to take them with us if we know it's something we'd enjoy doing as a family. But, we do need to make time together as a couple without the kids and we make sure that this happens at least two nights a week - no … [Read more...]
Teaching Children about Money – Important lessons learned this week….
As another week of 2014 speeds by us, it's time for this week's teaching children about money post. This week it's all about saving versus spending and is inspired by a couple of interesting conversation I had with the kids last weekend.Miss Frugal has been after a bottle of the new One Direction perfume since it first came out but I've held off buying it on principle because, as I've said before, it annoys me that it's priced so highly when it's aimed at young girls. It was on her Christmas list but after I explained that if I bought her a bottle, it would be the smallest bottle (3oml) … [Read more...]
Homemade Cinnamon stick tree decorations….
We've gone for a bit of a change this year with a red and gold colour schemed tree in place of the usual lilac and silver ornaments that we use and surprisingly (because I loved the old colours), I really like it. It feels a lot more traditional and makes me want to fill it with lovely rustic style decorations so I'm on a mission to make some this month. The first decorations I've made to hang on there are some lovely cinnamon stick decorations that took me minutes to make but look and smell great on the tree. Cinnamon sticks aren't very expensive and I've just had a quick look online at … [Read more...]
