Usually, when you buy supermarket flowers they come with a 5 or 7 day freshness guarantee which means exactly what it sounds like it does - that your flowers will stay looking fresh for at least that period of time. That freshness guarantee is something I look for when I buy any fresh flowers because, in my experience, even reduced price flowers last for at least as long as the length of time the label says the guarantee is for.I've only ever had a couple of experiences where the guarantee hasn't worked - one it kind of did work as the flowers didn't exactly die within the guarantee … [Read more...]

Forced Positivity Online….
Today's post is about forced positivity online which is a roundabout way of saying that it's about how some bloggers (and vloggers) only share the positive parts of their lives. Does that mean they're not being real with their followers or simply that they're choosing to only share what they're comfortable with sharing?A few months ago now I was pottering about making the tea and I overheard some snippets of a YouTube video that one of the kids was watching and it made me think. It was about whether YouTubers were forcing positivity on their viewers or whether they were portraying … [Read more...]
How (not to) organise a photo wall or photo shelf….
We've had an amazing year for travel this year as a family and I really wanted to print out some of our photos to showcase some of our adventures. Jen suggested a photo shelf on the back wall of my kitchen would be nice so off I popped to IKEA to pick up a couple of them and some photo frames to use on the shelf.I love, love, love how it looks now but I'll be honest, it did take me a week and a couple of attempts to get it right! I thought you might like to see the step by step process in case you want to make your own photo shelf or wall....(Top tip - before following these … [Read more...]
What we ate in a week {November 2017}….
I thought I might start a new monthly series on the blog called 'What we ate in a week' which is, as the title would suggest a post about the food we ate in a week! ;-)My plan is to start writing this post the Monday before you read it each month and simply update it each night with a photo of what we had for our tea that day so let's give it a go.... MondayWe made some really quick and easy fajitas for tea tonight with some sliced yellow and green peppers and red onion gently fried in a little olive oil with two chicken breasts that I remembered to get out of the freezer last … [Read more...]
Posh toad in the hole….
In last week's five frugal things post I shared a photo of my posh toad in the hole and a couple of you have emailed to ask how I made it so I thought I'd share my recipe with you today. Before I do though, I should probably warn you that it's not all that posh! I'm not sure you could ever class a toad in the hole as posh to be honest but it's cheap, filling and easy to make - we call it posh because of the addition of the red onions which really do add another dimension to the traditional version of toad in the hole. How to make Posh Toad in the Hole 100g plain flour 300ml milk 3 … [Read more...]
March: Money saved and Money made….
I feel like I haven't been in total control of our finances as much as usual for the last nine months or so with me not being very well but March seemed like a great time to put that right as I've been feeling so much better lately and both our home and car insurance were up for renewal as well as my phone contract finally coming to an end.I took a day off work last week so I could fully focus on all things budget related, gather together our bank statements and any of our insurance renewal letters and sat myself down with a copy of my free budget planner and got to work, with the help of … [Read more...]
