I always find it hard to be frugal and thrifty when the kids are off school but this week's been easier than usual as it's been a bit of a chill out week for the kids and we haven't done much at all.1. 1. I've up-cycled a cake board into a memo board this week which saved me throwing away the cake board!  You can have a read about how I did it here if you fancy having a go yourself.2. 1. We've had a week without shopping this week as we've been using up the random bits of food and leftovers that we have in already.  It's made for some very random meals but we've got a half empty freezer now so I've made space for some more reduced supermarket bargains.2.   We've all been under the weather this week with snotty noses and sore throats so rather than buying half the chemist as I would have done in the past, I decided to go for the old fashioned hot water in a bowl approach to clear our blocked noses.  I added a couple of drops of Olbas oil to some slightly cooled just … [Read more...]

  Five frugal things I've done this week: 1.  Don't judge me for this one!  At our local Asda I saw someone get in their car and drive away leaving their trolley in the next car parking space so I did the good citizen thing and took the trolley back to the trolley bay.  Obviously my intention was to prevent the trolley from rolling away and hitting a car and had nothing to do with the fact that there was a pound coin in there waiting to be claimed.  ;-)2.  I bought a new table and chairs, well not exactly new but new to us.  I haven't got it set up yet properly but here's the photo … [Read more...]
