This time of year, more than any other, makes me realise just how lucky I am.I could focus on much loved family and friends who are no longer with us or one of a number of things that are on my mind right now but instead I'm choosing to think about the good things in my life because they massively outweigh the things that make me sad!I have a lovely family with children who amaze me and make me proud every day, a good job which I am lucky enough to only work part time hours at, a lovely home near the sea and some fantastic friends - both on and offline. Lots of people don't have that … [Read more...]

Saturday Night Family Fun ideas (without watching X Factor or Strictly)….
As much as I enjoy watching the X Factor (I know you all do secretly), I tend to find that it can take up most of our Saturday night because by the time we've watched it, it's bedtime for the kids and usually too late for us to watch a film or anything as Mr Frugal is usually up early for work on Sunday. So this year, we're not going to watch X Factor or Strictly (or if we do we're going to Sky Plus it and watch it through the week together) and we're not even going to have a Saturday night movie night with popcorn like we usually do when X Factor isn't on. We're going to do something … [Read more...]
Get Organised – Organise your Chargers….
Today I'm a woman on a mission. Not a particularly important mission, it's not like I'm going to save the world or anything but I am going to tackle a problem that's been annoying me for months - I'm going to find a way to organise the million charges that we have.We have chargers for phones (four of them), an ipod touch, our Kindles, two tablets and two cameras and we're struggling to keep them neat and tidy at the moment so I've been trying to think of a way to organise them.My first idea worked really well for us for ages. I keep two of the USB plugs plugged in … [Read more...]
It’s been HOT here this week (and I don’t mean the weather)….
It’s been a very, very long week here this last week.Followers on Facebook and Twitter may have seen my neurotic mother tweets on Tuesday as Master Frugal’s temperature climbed up to 39.8 with Calpol hardly bringing it down at all.We had him to A&E on the morning after a run in with our Doctors receptionist who told me that all appointments were full and if it was that urgent that I should go to A&E – so I did. I was so worried though as he was so hot and just couldn’t stay awake – at one point he was walking back from the toilet and he just sat down and fell asleep! The nurse … [Read more...]
20 of our favourite websites for children….
As much as I love to encourage the kids to play outside wherever possible and to do other none computer related things when we're in the house, I have to accept that they're going to want to play on the internet! For the most part, I'm happy for them to use the internet - Miss Frugal is required to use it every week to research her homework anyway and I genuinely believe that the right amount of time on the internet is good for them, as long as you make sure that you know exactly what they're doing online. We use a mix of educational sites and fun sites and I do limit the amount of time … [Read more...]
Men! (And by men, I mean specifically my man)….
Today I asked Mr Frugal to tidy his computer desk up.A not unreasonable request considering that it seems to have become a bit of a dumping ground for everything from homework to bills and from Moshi Monsters codes to random bits of paper with children's scrawl written all over them but you'd seriously have thought I'd have asked him to take a hammer to it judging by his reaction.I'll give him credit though, after a bit of general life's unfair whinging and some muttering under his breath about how he shouldn't have to do things on Father Day, he did make an effort to tidy it up. And … [Read more...]
