This is one of those topics that you don’t really think about… until it suddenly becomes very real. Whether it’s you, your partner, or someone close to you, the idea of building a life together in the UK sounds simple enough, but once you start looking into visas, forms and costs, it quickly becomes clear that it’s anything but straightforward. It’s not something I’ve had to deal with myself, but it’s come up in conversation recently and it made me realise how complicated it can be — especially when you start looking at the cost and how easy it is to get things wrong. And if you’re anything … [Read more...]
Welcome to the Bird Cafe….
We don't have much of a back garden in our new house but what we do have is a lovely front garden that runs the length of the house and ever since we first viewed the house, I've had so many plans for it!Unfortunately, life had other plans for me for the first month or so of us living in the house as I've been either waiting for my operation or recovering from it so I've been very impatiently waiting until I can get out there. 😁One thing I have been able to do is to start setting up our little bird corner which I've been looking forward to setting up since before we had the … [Read more...]
Decluttering my wardrobe {Two week Vinted update}….
Did you see my post a couple of weeks ago about my wardrobe sort out and mass bulk Vinted listing session? A couple of weeks ago, I finally cleared out my wardrobe and drawers ahead of our house move, mainly because I couldn’t see the point in packing and moving clothes I already don’t wear, especially when I’d been battling to shut my wardrobe doors for months and pretending to myself that it wasn't a big deal. I went through everything properly and made a decision on every single item of clothing that I owned, which was long overdue if I’m honest. Anything that wasn’t staying … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did when we moved house….
We bought a project house. It's live-able but it definitely needs work and we have so many plans to turn it into our home. We plan to do most of the work ourselves gradually so we know we can stick to a tight budget - and it needs to be a tight budget based on the amount of work that we need to do and the plans we have. 😁So, life's going to be very busy for the foreseeable. It's actually been a month since we moved in but I've not been well so haven't really updated you since then which means now that I've had my operation and am starting to feel better, I … [Read more...]
How travel esim technology helps families save money abroad…
Travelling overseas with the family is one of those things you look forward to for ages… and then suddenly you’re there, spending money at a slightly alarming rate 😂 Flights, accommodation, days out—it all adds up. But one of the sneakiest costs? Staying connected. Because let’s be honest, when you’re away you rely on your phone for everything. Maps, restaurants, booking taxis, checking opening times… and if you’ve got kids with you, you can pretty much guarantee someone will want WiFi within five minutes. That’s where things can start to get expensive. Why internet costs can … [Read more...]
How I saved money (and the planet) this week with Too Good to Go….
If you’ve been around here a while, you’ll know I’m a big fan of Too Good To Go – the clever little app that lets you rescue perfectly good food from going in the bin, all while saving a few pounds at the same time. It’s basically a win-win for your wallet and the planet. For anyone who hasn’t come across it before, here’s how it works.. Local cafés, restaurants, bakeries and supermarkets list any unsold food on the app at the end of each day and you can browse the app to see what’s nearby. You pick what you want, pay through the app (usually just a few pounds), and then pop along at the … [Read more...]
