I've been following the Slimming World diet for a few months now and although it's not going as well as it was at the start (due to an all inclusive holiday and lots of picnics in the Summer Holidays, I am back on track now and am pleased with my weight loss so far.I tried on the dress I wore for the MADS last year and found it was two sizes too big and the dress I bought for the MADS award ceremony earlier in the Summer now has tobe pulled in a little with a belt so I'm definitely seeing a difference since I started. One of my favourite syn free Slimming World snacks is chickpea dahl … [Read more...]
Sick of balancing your debts? Try this one super easy tip to help you pay them off quicker and save money along the way…..
What is this brilliant tip that will help you pay off your debts quicker AND save you money? It's called snowballing and it really does work. And before you ask, when I say snowballing I don't mean throwing actual snowballs, I'm referring to paying off your credit cards and other unsecured lending in the most cost efficient way possible. It's all about paying your debts off in the right order so that you pay the least amount of interest on your debts and pay them off as quickly as possible. The best way to do this is to pay the minimum payment each month on all of your outstanding … [Read more...]
Get Organised – the inevitable back to school edition….
I work part time between 8 and 2.30, Monday to Friday which is brilliant as it means that during term time, I get to drop the kids off at breakfast club before I go to work and I'm finished in time to pick them up again at the end of the school day. Unfortunately, the fact that I have to drop them off at breakfast club by 7.30 in order to get to work by 8, means that getting ready has to be organised like a military operation! The organisation starts the day before, as soon as the kids get in from school! Shoes and coats are put where they're supposed to go and school uniforms are laid … [Read more...]
My new favourite shop – the 99p Store….
Where I live we used to have a pound shop that sold things like out of date diaries, dodgy looking garden gnomes, old CD's that no one would ever buy and rather ugly ornaments - my Mam used to call it the 'tat shop'.I think that put me off those types of shops a little bit as I very rarely go in my local 99p store and when I do, it's usually for something specific that I want, like Christmas bags. Even then I generally go straight to what I want and am in and out in no time at all, without really looking round. Then I was asked by the lovely people at 99p stores if they could try and … [Read more...]
This weeks Frugal(ish) meal plan….
The worst part about going on holiday is the coming home isn't it?I hate the journey home, the unpacking, the washing, the catching up on e mails, the going back to work to a mountain of paperwork, the British weather.... I could go on but luckily for you I have a to do list the size of the M1 to get through in the next few days so I'm short on time!We got home last night from an amazing week in the Costa del Sol and I was back at work today (hence the reason I feel particularly sorry for myself I think). I'm off tomorrow though thank goodness and it's the last day off before the kids … [Read more...]
Packed Lunch Moneysaving….
I originally posted this a little while ago and although, I don't usually re-publish old posts I think this one is worth a second look so you can see that children's packed lunches don't have to cost the earth. It's easy to make a filling and healthy packed lunch that your children will enjoy for around half of what you would pay for a school dinner.I'd strongly recommend a good read through the comments as well as there are some fantastic ideas in there. Feel free to add your own too....School Dinners seem to have got very expensive lately don't they?I think they're … [Read more...]
