Overnight Oats is my new favourite breakfast! It's filling, tasty and thanks to the fact that you make it the night before, it's also super quick on a morning when I'm rushing about. I can even pop it into my bag and eat it at work if I'm running late (which I often am). You can even make it Slimming World friendly.Overnight oats are something that I've heard about so many times both from fellow mums who want an easy breakfast option and from friends on Slimming World who swear by them for an easy but filling breakfast.Until a couple of week's ago, I'd never tried them because … [Read more...]
Remembrance…
This week marked the 12th anniversary of my brother's death and as always at this time of year, I've had a few tears and a week of feeling very bleugh.Twelve years on I'm at the point now where I can remember the good things without feeling as sad as I used to and whilst there's clearly no bright side or silver lining to losing him, I do often silently thank him for changing my life.He really did have a huge impact on my life and the way he dealt with his cancer battle genuinely changed my whole outlook on life. I feel a bit odd even thinking let alone writing it down but my life … [Read more...]
Days Out: An afternoon at Brighton Sealife Centre…
When I asked Miss Frugal what she wanted to do when we had a week away at Butlins in Bognor Regis recently, she had just two requests - she wanted to visit the Brighton Sealife Centre and also see if we could find where Zoella lives in Brighton so we could drive past her house. They're the only things she asked to do the whole week so we headed off to Brighton one day in the middle of our week to see what we could do. We thought the Sealife centre would be the easiest thing to start with but we really struggled with parking as the Sealife centre itself doesn't have parking nearby that we … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {9th September 2016}….
I'm really excited about this week's 5 frugal things post because I'm trying something a little bit different - I'm turning it into a weekly linky with the lovely Emma and Becky. We're all going to share our five frugal things each Friday the way I always have done but we're also going to ask you to link up your frugal and thrifty posts too.I'll share a bit more of that at the end of the post if you're interested in joining in but for now, let's get back to business with the five fabulously frugal things I've done this week....1) I got some great reduced fruit and veg at the … [Read more...]
What do you enjoy most about the Summer
If someone asked me that then I'd say the time we spend outdoors together as a family but actually, I could probably say something similar about Autumn. And Winter. And definitely about Spring. To us, it doesn't matter what the weather's like outside - if it's hot we'll slap on the sun tan lotion, if it's raining we'll pop a jacket and wellies on and if it's cold then outcome the hats and gloves. This week I've seen lots of people in my timeline on Facebook and Twitter saying how sad they are that Summer's over and how much they're going to miss the kids now they're back at school so I … [Read more...]
Intentional Spending – Learn to Truly Choose Happiness….
Have you heard of Intentional Spending before?Until recently, I’d never actually heard the phrase intentional spending but even without hearing it, it’s been something I’ve done ever since we started on our frugal journey. If you don't know what intentional spending is then I'll give you a quick heads up - it basically means to spend money on the things that make you happy and leave you feeling fulfilled. You can cut down on one area of spending to give you more money to spend in another area of your life.Like many of us, I try to live frugally to save money but my reason for … [Read more...]
