1) Did you see my post last week where I mentioned how we'd booked a cheeky little family trip to Milan for the May half term week? Don't worry, I'm not going to try and class that as something frugal (although it was an AMAZING deal costing us less than a few nights in London going on the train) but I did do something during the booking process that saved us a fair amount of money so I get to class that part as frugal, don't I? I didn't book any hold luggage as there were extra fees for that that would have bumped the price of our booking up. Looking at the size of the cabin baggage allowed … [Read more...]
Travel – an enriching experience or a waste of money?
Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer!I can't remember where I first read this travel quote (it was probably a Facebook meme to be honest) but the words really stuck with me.We're not the sort of people who can sit on a sunbed all day (well, Miss Frugal is but the rest of us aren't) and we don't even like the heat that much as we all burn so quickly so we've mostly holidayed in the UK over the last five or six years. There's so many places to visit and things to see and do here in the UK that we haven't seen nearly as much as we'd like to see yet but even … [Read more...]
My March Goals….
I'm so excited that Spring seems to be on it's way!Just the sight of the blue skies I've seen lately has made me feel happier in myself and I have this month in my head as the month that things will finally start to get back to normal. I really want to feel like me again and I'm only going to be able to feel like that until all of my niggling issues have gone (you can ready about my op here). March Goals - Personal My personal goals for February were all about taking it easy, catching up with friends and getting back into Slimming World. I managed two and a half out of three.... … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {24 February 2017}….
1) Don't judge me but I went to see the new Fifty Shades of Grey film last week with my lovely friend. We could have gone to the big cinema in the next town and watched the film in comfort when the film was released but we decided to wait a bit longer and go to our local cinema which is ridiculously cheap compared to the bigger chains. It's such a pretty little family run cinema and it's had a recent refurb with new chairs so it was so comfortable and well worth the ticket price. They do drinks and snacks from a cute little stand and the costs aren't any higher than you'd pay in a … [Read more...]
Five things to do on a morning to make your day easier….
One of the most popular posts I've ever written is my post about six things to do before you go to bed to make your next morning easier and honestly, I genuinely feel better the next morning when I take the time to do these six things.Someone once commented on a Facebook post about this post to say that she 'couldn't be bothered to faff about on a night' but I'm not a morning person and find it much easier if I can just get up and go without having to think about much at all. I also find that getting organised for the next day on a night helps me to relax at bedtime because I know … [Read more...]
My Favourite Ted Talks about Money and Consumerism….
Have you heard of Ted Talks?I'd heard of them but never actually watched or listened to one of the talks until recently when I was off work with very little to do through the day. I realised after getting a little bit too interested in the lives of some US vloggers that even if I had little energy to do anything but watch Youtube, I could at least watch something with a little more substance. That's when I decided to finally check out some Ted Talks which are basically short (18 minutes or less) and I discovered a whole library of talks about just about any subject you can imagine. I … [Read more...]
