For my Birthday last week Mr Frugal surprised me with a Bellabeat Leaf which is something I've been wanting for a while. The Bellabeat Leaf is basically a pendant that tracks your sleep cycles, your activity, your breathing and your monthly cycles AND looks pretty at the same time which is always a plus. ;-)You can wear it as a bracelet, a necklace or even just clipped on to your clothes. I tried it as a bracelet but I couldn't get the strap to sit right so it didn't feel comfortable so I've been wearing it as a necklace. The bracelet strap that it comes with is quite small I think but … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {24 March 2017}….
1) My phone contract finally ended last week so I called EE to cancel it as I was planning to move over to Giff Gaff who do unlimited data (6GB at 4G and after that it's slower speed) for £20 and 4GB for £15. We also wanted to cancel Mr Frugal's as he never got around to doing it last year - he says he forgot as I was unwell but I suspect its more to do with the fact that he wanted to stay with EE as the coverage with them is really good where we are. Anyway, we cancelled them both, got our PAC codes to move over to Giff Gaff and ordered our new Giff Gaff sim cards. Then we got a call from … [Read more...]
Do you read food labels?
While I was ill last year, our food choices definitely weren't always the best choices for us as a family and as soon as I was back on my feet earlier this year that was the first thing I wanted to get back under control. It's all too easy to slip into the 'convenience' rut where meals consist of easy components - chicken nuggets with chips and beans or mash and mixed veg became my husband's signature dish last year when he was responsible for the majority of the cooking. And you know what? That's an OK meal when it's balanced with other, healthier options throughout the rest of the … [Read more...]
DIY Money Savings Jar….
Last weekend I used the last of a jar of artificial sweetener that we've had in the cupboard for what seems like forever. We only use it when my Dad comes around as it's the only thing he likes in his tea. The tub was a clear plastic jar with grooves around the edges and a bright yellow lid and I decided to try and upcycle it into a DIY money savings jar.I had some leftover gold glittery spray paint so I took the jar outside and gave it a quick spray with the spray paint. I wouldn't go out and buy some spray paint if you don't already have any in because you can jazz up your container … [Read more...]
Seven ways to say Sorry….
I'm quite a tolerant person and I understand that people, especially children, aren't perfect. We all make mistakes and to me, it's really important that we acknowledge when we make a mistake and that we apologise to anyone our mistake has affected.I've always tried to teach the kids that it's not just the saying sorry that matters because, let's face it, anyone can say the word sorry. That's not hard at all (unless you're Mr Frugal), is it?What is hard is acting like you're sorry an showing the person you're apologising to that you really mean it.As the parent of a teenager and … [Read more...]
Unbelievably Good Roasted Tomatoes….
I've made my famous (in my own head) recipe for roasted tomatoes so so many times over the years and about six years after I first shared it with you, I decided to share it again as the photos and instructions in the first recipe were so poor that they didn't go even half way to showing you just how amazing this recipe really is!Roasted tomatoes with lime, garlic and chilli.... You should know me by now, I like my recipes to be super simple, super tasty and super cheap and this recipe for roasted tomatoes ticks all three boxes! All you need are some cherry tomatoes, two cloves of … [Read more...]
