I know I’m late to the Airfryer party but since we got our Ninja Pro last month, I’ve been experimenting with the different things that I can cook in there and today, I thought I’d share some of the things that I’ve been cooking in there.
One of my most popular posts at the moment is ‘Nine things that you can make in the slow cooker that might surprise you‘ so I thought I’d do a similar post about Airfryers because in my limited time of having one, I’ve realised just how versatile they can be.
I have a few accessories that I use with my air fryer – I bought them when I bought the air fryer but there’s similar on Amazon….
- Silicone Airfryer liners will make your life SO much easier.
- You can’t go wrong with a silicone liner with a divider in it which means you can cook two things at once.
- Silicone cooking rings are perfect for things like eggs and pancakes.
- Airfryer ramekins are perfect for mini omelettes and Yorkshire puddings.
So, here we go… here’s a list of things you can cook in the air fryer that might just surprise you…
1. Hard-Boiled Eggs
My mind was blown the first time I cooked boiled eggs in the air fryer! It’s ridiculously easy – just pop your eggs straight into the basket, cook at 130°C for about 13 minutes, and you’ve got perfectly set eggs ready for breakfast or packed lunches.
2. Toasted Sandwiches
Forget dragging out the toastie maker (which is kept on a shelf above my height in our kitchen) and waiting for it to heat up before making your sandwich and and practically sitting on the toaster to squeeze it shut. All you need to do is butter your bread as you would if you were making your toastie in the toastie maker (I’m an outside butterer) and fill it with your favourite fillings, and then let the air fryer crisp it up for you!
3. Pancakes
I tried making low carb pancakes a little while ago and loved then so much that I now keep a stock of these in my freezer. I make them with crushed blueberries, bananas and even the occasional chocolate chip.

4. Apple Chips
My favourite healthy snack when I’m craving sweetness is apple crisps which I make by slicing apples thinly, sprinkling them with a little cinnamon, and cooking in the airfryer at 200°C air fry until crisp.
5. Potato skins
I often spray my potato peelings with some oil and pop them in the air fryer until they’re crispy and pretend that we’re having a starter at a restaurant. 😁 They taste lovely and it’s a great way to avoid waste!

6. Roast Vegetables
Parsnips, carrots, courgettes—whatever’s lurking in the fridge. Toss with a drizzle of oil and seasoning, and let the air fryer roast them to sweet perfection.
7. Stuffed Peppers
Fill halved peppers with leftover rice, beans, or couscous, sprinkle on cheese, and let the air fryer do the rest. It’s a thrifty dinner idea with hardly any washing up.

And you can even make pumpkin faces in the peppers for the kids. These are my Halloween stuffed peppers but you can do them at any time of the year with any colour bell pepper – they always go down well!
8. Granola
if you mix oats with honey, some seeds and your favourite dried fruit and then spread it out in the air fryer basket you’ll get lovely crispy homemade granola for a fraction of supermarket prices with barely any effort. Last time I made this, I was naughty and added some dark chocolate chips once it was cool
9. Jacket Potatoes
Microwaved spuds can be a bit sad and soggy, but finish them off in the air fryer for crispy skins that taste just like oven-baked—without the long wait. You can actually fully cook jacket potatoes in the air fryer too if you’d rather but I prefer just to finish them off in there for the last 15 minutes or so.
See what I mean – the air fryer isn’t just for frozen chips, is it? 😁
