Along with half of the nation, I started my New Years diet last Monday and I’ve just nervously stepped on to our bathroom scales to find out that I’ve lost 5lbs so I’m really pleased with myself 😉
I even made myself a little tracker thingy to track my progress, although rather than set a target weight, I’ve decided to work towards smaller mini goals, the first of which is to lose a stone.
I’m following Slimming World and I’m finding it really easy so far although I’m sure it’ll get harder though once the novelty wears off so for now I’m making the most of it. I’m not going to the meetings as I’m trying to save money at the moment but I have found a fantastic forum dedicated to people trying to lose weight and I’ve been spending a fair amount of time on the Slimming World section getting hints and tips. I’m also going to be joining NotSupermum in the Big Momma Challenge to make sure that I’ve got lots of motivation and support.Â
My favourite two Slimming World discoveries of the week are….
Egg and Ham on wholemeal toast
Line a small ramekin dish with ham, then crack an egg into the dish and bake in the oven until the egg has cooked. Serve on a slice of wholemeal toast.
Slimming World Quiche

Using a small flan dish (or other similar ovenproof tray) layer the bottom with low fat cottage cheese and ham. Whisk 3 eggs together and pour into the flan dish, sprinkle over some grated cheese and bake in the oven until it sets. It’s like a quiche but without the pastry 😉 There’s probably loads of things you could add to this depending on what you’re in the mood for
Good luck to everyone else on a diet and to those who aren’t – Have a Wispa and a glass of wine for me.

Thanks for your wonderful ideas. This one you told about students is so good. I love reading your post. Thanks for sharing.
before and after
These are great ideas! Perfect for getting fit or saving.
I just wanted to say you’re an inspiration. I’ve just began shedding pounds and can need some help!!
Place asparagus on to one half of the omelette sprinkle with Parmesan and fold over. Cook while stirring till all the vegetables get coated with the sauce.
Thanks very much – hope you enjoy your quiche x
5lb is brilliant! I love the sound of the quiche without pastry – works perfect for my low carb diet, I think I shall try it this weekend.
i am having issues posting a comment. Doesnt seem to work using Firefox….anyone else having this issue?
No one else has said anything x
Good luck with the weight loss!! I'm a great fan of Slimming World – I started following their plan in August, and have lost 2 stone so far, with just one more to go until I reach my target :). It's a great plan, and I love how much you can eat and still lose weight. I also love that it's teaching me how to eat healthily – this is something i'll be able to maintain even after I've reached my target weight.
I'm going to have to try that quiche sometime. I don't have any particular recipe to share, but I recommend a subscription to the Slimming World magazine if you can afford it – full of hints and tips, and I haven't had a bad recipe out of it yet.
Thats excellent – well done on your weight loss so far x
I love the Slimming World magazine, I'm sure I'll get loads of ideas from it x
Thats an amazing work… well done keep it up!!
Thank you x
I like the look of the egg and ham on toast thingy, so simple but I bet it's tasty too. Thanks for joining the Big Momma Challenge – we are all going to be so incredibly healthy!
I'll be updating my own progress every weekend, so see you then!
I'm looking forward to your next update x
Well done on the five pounds!! Im at the same stage as you–need to lose nine. The recipe looks good, reminds me of something similar my mom used to make (which was very tasty!).
Thanks very much, Good luck with your nine pounds too x x
Good luck 😉
I'll look forward to reading about it x x
Well done you are doing really well – keep up the amazing work!! And thanks for the little ticker icon – I've set one for my wedding countdown.
The ticker things are fab aren't they – Especially to count you down to something exciting like your wedding x x
I decided to go down the weight watchers route following pro points and am quite stocked at how little I should be eating, no wonder I am so chubby. I have managed to save money by not signing up at all and just buying a phone app for less than 2 pounds – bargain. Being a self confessed geek, gadgets are definitely the key for me. Chocolate is my downfall, it just tastes so yummy and now that the cream eggs are available, well, it just isn’t right, don’t they realise us mums are trying to get back to our pre kids size.
lol Cream eggs are my downfall too. I'm always surprised by how little you can eat on Weight Watchers too – that's why I went for Slimming World, you can eat a lot more but just have to choose what you eat more carefully.
Good luck x
lol Weightwatchers always shocks me with how little you can eat.
I wonder if you can get a Slimming World app – I've just ordered an Iphone
love the look of the egg and ham dish. Am also doing slimming world , was going to class but decided to go it alone because I want to save money plus i am not keen on the group. Good Luck!
Good luck to you too. I'm the same as you, not going to the group is about saving money but I'm also not keen on the class itself. x
We'll all support each other 😉
