I knew it was too good to be true, everything has been going so well on the cooking front lately.
Last night, I decided to make some chicken and vegetable soup and being the perfect Domestic Goddess that I am (not), I started by making my chicken stock from scratch. I must admit that I found this part really easy as I was following the step by step instructions on the blog ‘A shade of lavender’.
Unfortunately, once my chicken stock was made, I decided to go it alone as I had read somewhere that you can’t go wrong when making soups…. I can now confirm that whoever said that was blissfully unaware of my previous kitchen disasters and you will see why when you look at the picture of it below.
To my chicken stock I added some brocolli, leeks, a potato, some carrots, an onion and some shredded chicken, I let it all cook together and then blended it together as I am not a fan of chunky soups.
The result was:

A horrible green sludge that tasted as bad as it looks…. Oh well, I will stick to my nana’s recipe for split pea soup with dumplings next time.

It was the broccoli! It's too strong for milder soups. Been there done that myself!
My nana's recipe beats all other soups…. so she used to tell me anyway….
I will have a go at making it next week and will post the recipie on here. It never tastes as good as when she used to make it but still yummy.
Thanks for the link 🙂
I'm sorry the soup didn't turn out that well but I would be really interested in seeing your nana's recipe if you were planning on putting on your blog?
I'm intending on including a few soup recipes soon as well – as soon as I get enough time to make them!
