Miss Frugal’s 11 now and most definitely doesn’t believe in Santa anymore. She didn’t last year or even, I suspect the year before that either but she at least pretended for my sake. It’s different this year though because she knows that I know that she knows that the big man isn’t real so she doesn’t feel the need to humour me as she’s done for the last few years.
She’s still pretending to believe in front of Master Frugal though because we’re not actually sure if he’s still a believer – I’m almost positive that he is but that could just be wishful thinking on my part.
Now that she’s a non believer, she’s decided not to write a letter to Santa this year. Instead, when I asked her to give me an idea of what she would like and by the time I came home from work the next day there was a list stuck to the fridge door asking for everything but the kitchen sink!
She’s not asking for that much actually and nothing major thank goodness but her list does make me smile as it’s very specific – even to the point of her asking for felt tips – of good quality! Cheeky madam….
She’s also taken to texting me photos of things she’s spotted that she would like – again, just to help me you understand! 😉
I do miss the days when she used to write lovely letters to Santa asking for dolls and asking after the reindeers and Mrs Claus!
Do your children still believe?

frankies 9 and I think he is till convinced!
Awww, I will be so sad when Sophie gets to the age where she no longer believes
I suppose at least she is a girl who knows what she wants! It is the end of an era for you but I'm sure Christmas will still be magical in your house.
I love the list. I'm really annoyed actually as my 10 year old has made it clear that he does not believe by telling his just turned 6 year old brother!!! Luckily he believed me when I told him his brother was just being nasty!
My girls are still young but i am hoping they will believe in Santa for a long time coming!
Ooh! My son would love the Minecraft book *pops it on list* and seeing her Jacqueline Wilson requests brings back memories of when my grown up girl was smaller! Luckily despite my older two being too old to believe, we all have to play along for the toddler- which keeps the magic alive for us all!
They do they do! Thankfully, well the younger two anyway. So far Kitty has 'sweets' and 'felt tip pens' on her list – I predict a GOOD Crimbo!
Awww I love this letter and like Mummy Never Sleeps love the "felt tips of good quality" bit best. That really made me giggle.
Oh I am LOVING the "felt tips of good quality" brilliant! A girl after my own heart *strokes Sharpies*
Hehe I love her list actually because it is so detailed – pens of good quality made me laugh. Sounds well posh 😉
I love Christmas lists, I wrote about letters to Santa this week too!
My eldest is 8 and she is on the cusp of not believing but she is too scared that she might not get any presents if she doesnt!!
I love how specific she has been 🙂
Ohhhhhh 🙁 But at least she still writes cute lists! I love how earnest they get about the things they write – she's discerning about her pens, but any old make-up will do – I like that girl!
I made a decision not to americanise it all I think it leads to disappointment! No letters to ‘santa’ no behave or he wont come etc etc My kids know father Christmas is a story like any other that adds to the magic of christmas & they get fully into it, racing down on xmas morning etc. Harsh mum!!!!
Stop believing in this house and you get no presents. I still believe!
Awww…that is so cute! My son (9) has just written me his Christmas wish list which, like your daughter, shows a delightful lack of spoiled-ness. His list included a new duvet cover, a new blank paper notepad with sparkly pens, a nerf gun and some lego. It always warms my heart when I see kid's wish lists when they contain such simple things (though some lists I have seen around the interwebs are terrifying for exactly the opposite reason! What 7 year old really needs/wants the latest i-phone and tablet?!?!)
Either my step daughters are acting it so that they get more stuff, or they still believe in Santa. Given that they are now 9 and 11 I suspect it's the former BUT they are both still very child-like in a lot of ways, so really I'm having a hard time telling.
On top of all the usual crazy-expensive tech that kids want (arg!) they both still want dollies and all sorts of toys that I would have dismissed as baby stuff when I was their age! They are a conundrum, that's for sure.
