A few years ago, I bought a CRIMPiT and completely fell in love with it.
I loved it so much that I actually dedicated a whole blog post to the wonders of this little kitchen gadget (which you can still read if you fancy it). But for the quick version: a CRIMPiT is a simple tool that seals the filling inside a sandwich, which instantly makes it more versatile. Once it’s sealed, you can toast it, grill it, or crisp it up into a toastie filled with pretty much anything your heart desires.
I used it loads when I was doing Slimming World. It worked brilliantly with those sandwich thins you can buy, and I really enjoyed making little toasties for quick, healthy lunches that still felt like a treat.
Then I found out I was diabetic, and bread became one of those things I tried to cut back on as much as I realistically could. Gradually, the CRIMPiT got pushed to the back of the cupboard and then quietly forgotten about.

Fast forward a bit, and I spotted that they’d released the CRIMPiT wrap — basically the same idea, but designed for wraps instead of bread. At the time it was £19.99 (it’s cheaper now), and although I was very tempted, I couldn’t quite justify spending that much on something I suspected I’d only use occasionally.
Not long after that, I discovered low-carb wraps, and a little lightbulb moment happened. If I had one of those CRIMPiT wraps, I could absolutely enjoy the odd cheeky wrap again… but despite all the good intentions, I never actually got round to buying one.
Then last week, the charity shop gods smiled upon me 😂 I spotted a brand new CRIMPiT wrap in one of the village charity shops for just £2.49. Needless to say, it came home with me.

I grabbed some low-carb wraps on the way back (less than 15g of carbs per wrap) and made one for lunch that very day. A tuna and cheese melt wrap, to be precise — and it was genuinely delicious.
Using it couldn’t be easier. You lay the wrap over the CRIMPiT, pop it in the microwave for about 20 seconds to soften it, add your filling, then seal it up. I cooked mine in the air fryer for five minutes, but you can also use the oven or even dry-fry it in a pan if you prefer. The air fryer, though? Absolute perfection.

So far, I’ve had the tuna and cheese melt, a pizza-style wrap with pepperoni, one filled with chilli and chicken, and a breakfast wrap with mushrooms, scrambled egg and gammon. All of them have been easy, filling, and honestly really satisfying.
More than anything, it helps me feel like I’m not missing out — and that’s huge. I often find it frustrating not being able to eat the same things I’m cooking for everyone else, and having a low-carb option that still feels like a proper toastie makes such a difference.
It might seem like a small thing, but those small things really do matter. And for £2.49? Quite possibly my favourite charity shop find in a long time 😀
