This is the right decision. I had the same story, there were smaller amounts and I dealt with this faster, but I believe in you!

I do keep dreaming of owning a huge house one day, but the three bed we’re in now works for us and the thought of paying off the mortgage is a dream!

I did that! I had it for about 18 months and put the max into it, well worthwhile. I also bought using help to buy and a 5% deposit. It meant I could get started on paying off a mortgage rather than renting for another couple of years. Keep going!

I’m currently saving for my first house… well I’m slowly transferring the money into a housing ISA (snooze but worth it)

I’m 12 months into my first mortgage and have managed to overpay by the equivalent of 5 months payments, which I’m proud of. Finding it a great way to save for the next house, as interest rates are so low and I have a comfortable emergency pot of 2.5 months of living expenses. It feels so good to be in this position after years of livign in my overdraft!
