I know I’m super late to the party here but I’ve just discovered ChatGPT and it’s helping me out in ways I didn’t even think I needed help with.

For those of you who haven’t used ChatGPT before, all I did was install the ChatGPT app on my phone and I was ready to go, although at that point, I had no clue just how much I would use it.

I thought some of you might find it interesting to see some of the things I’ve used it for in the last couple of weeks…
Design Inspiration
The house we’re hoping to buy has gorgeous sash windows but they are painted in a very ‘interesting’ colour. It has seven windows at the front of the house and they’ve all been painted in the same colour along with the door frame and even the top part of the wall in the front.
I uploaded a photo of the house into ChatGPT and asked it to transform everything that’s been painted in this colour to black so I could really visualise what it could look like if it was painted and it looked amazing.

I’ll not show you the full house (yet 😁) but here’s one of the windows looking smart – ChatGPT has done a flawless job on all the windows showing me exactly what the house would look like with nice black painted windows.
And still on the subject of the new house…
It’s still very lived in and has an awful lot of ‘stuff’ in there – the photo that was on RightMove for this room included five chairs, a desk, a TV, piles of stuff everywhere which, added to the fact that the house hasn’t been decorated in a very long time, makes it hard to visualise what it could look when (if?) we move in.
I uploaded a photo of the room filled with clutter and asked it to show me what the room would looked like decorated in Victorian colours. This green isn’t our chosen colour, I just wanted to see what potential the room had once it was cleared and we could decorate.

I wish I could show you the original to compare but it’s not my photo to share so you’ll just have to take my word for the fact that ChatGPT was able to take all the furniture and clutter out of the photo and show us what the room could look like.
Holiday Planning
We’re going on holiday in a couple of weeks and we have a lot that we want to see when we get there. It’s a place with so many things to see so we’re hiring a car but the thought of planning our actual itinerary was stressing me out a bit. The things we want to see are all over the place and trying to figure out which ones were near enough to each other to do in the same day was driving me mad.
I asked ChatGPT to make me an itinerary, telling it how many days we were going for and where we would be based and it did a great job. After sharing the itinerary, it asked me when I was travelling so it could tailor the itinerary for a specific time of year and then once it had done that, it asked if I wanted a PDF version to print out.
I also used it all of the time when we were on holiday over the Summer to ask for ideas on what to do in the areas we were in. We got so many ideas for places we just wouldn’t have known were close to us without ChatGPT.
Food Inspiration
I got some reduced price fruit from the shop last week that I wanted to use to make some little mini muffins with some almond flour that I had in the cupboard. I could have Googled a recipe and searched through the results but instead, I asked ChatGPT and got a simple recipe in seconds. It then asked me if I wanted to tweak the recipe and gave me some alternatives.
I’ve used it to ask for ideas on what to cook for tea with what I have in the fridge and when I’m planning our weekly meals on a Sunday.
Email Drafts
I had an issue on a recent trip that we went on and wanted to complain to the company and ask for a partial refund but I didn’t really have the time or the energy to write a good complaint email so I asked ChatGPT to write a complaint email for me. I could have just told it what the issues were but I actually copy and pasted the transcript from the Live Chat conversation that I had with the company and it worked with that instead.
It asked me what tone I wanted to use in the email and I think I said something like ‘firm and assertive’ and it produced an amazing message for me. I’m still awaiting the full outcome of my complaint but I did hear back from them last week with an offer of a refund – I didn’t feel it was sufficient (will share with you when I can) so I declined and am waiting for a response from that.
Photo Editing
I wanted to make a bit of a surprise for my partner who is car mad. 🚗
We have a few photos of cars from his past that really mean something to him for various reasons and I thought it would be nice to remove the busy background from the photos and to get them transformed into a line drawing which would match the style of a couple of other prints that we have hanging at home.
I’ll share when I have it framed but while I was messing with the photos in ChatGPT, I asked it to turn one of them into a cartoon car and this is the result (or a snippet of the picture to give you an idea).

DIY projects
Did you see my super cute little writing bureau from this month’s pre-loved post?
I asked ChatGPT to tell me what to do to transform it from a scratched old bureau into something that I love enough for it to go into my new office – when I get it, that is.

Can you believe one little app can do so much?
I’m a huge ChatGPT convert and use it all of the time now.
