Every week I share five frugal things that I’ve done during the previous week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life.

Hey!
So first up, I know that these weekly posts have been very few and far between for the last few months and there’s a very good reason for that. I’ve not been very well and I’ve needed some time off work while I waited for an operation – nothing too dramatic but enough that it’s wiped me out for a little while.
I thought it was time to start them up again though so here we are…
1) There is no better way to start off this week’s post than with some bargain flowers.
Anyone who’s been here for a while knows that there’s nothing I love more than a pretty bunch of flowers other than a pretty bargain bunch of flowers. 😁

I spotted these little daffodils when I popped to Lidl late on one night for some bread flour. They had a big box of them all reduced to 10p so I picked up two and popped them in a vase when I got home.
This is what I came downstairs to the next day…

They’re still sat on my kitchen windowsill right now looking as beautiful as this, four days since I bought them so that was clearly the best 20p I’ve spent in a while.
2) I bought a bag of potatoes from the farm shop last weekend and used the largest ones to make Jacket potatoes for tea on Monday night but there was about six really small potatoes left in the bag that I really couldn’t be bothered to peel to make mash or roasties with and they felt too small to make jacket potatoes with.
So I roasted them and when they were done and cooled a bit, I scooped out the potato and mashed it with grated cheese and some leftover gammon and spooned the potato mix back into the skins and popped them in the air fryer for a few minutes to crisp up.

I didn’t have any myself as I’m diabetic so they’re not good for me but I served them for tea as a side with sausages and a few beans on the side and everyone cleared their plates and asked me to make them again so I can only assume that they were tasty!
3) We had a lovely Sunday Dinner last weekend and I added a few extra veggies in along with some extra potatoes so that we had some leftover for Monday as I had plans for tea on Monday night.
I made some giant Yorkshire Puddings and made Yorkshire Pudding wraps with our intentional leftovers. 😁

The picture doesn’t do any justice at all but I promise that it tasted amazing and just like the stuffed potato skins, I’ve been asked to make sure I always make some extra on a Sunday so this can be a Monday staple. I definitely won’t make it every week as I know everyone would get bored of it pretty quickly but I will be making it more often now I know how well it went down with everyone.
4) I found some double cream in the reduced section at Asda last weekend – they had about 100 cartons so they were reduced to 9p each. I bought one and decided to make some homemade garlic butter with it as it’s been forever since I’ve done that.

I’ve shared in the past how to make butter and I just made it the same way that I always do other than I added some garlic granules to the mix. I would have used fresh garlic but I have no idea where our garlic press is and I didn’t want garlicky hands so I took the cheats way out.

It was really lovely but would have been better with a bit more garlic I think.
5) This month is turning out to be SUPER busy so last Sunday I did something I don’t normally do and I set aside a full day to batch cook so our freezer was full of meals ready to go when we need them.
I’m usually a fan of just double cooking something when I cook it or buying the odd pack of mince or chicken to pop in the slow cooker to cook up. I rarely dedicate time to doing a big batch cook but I felt like future me would thank me for spending time to really dedicate to filling our freezer.
I’ve batched up portions of bolognese, slow cooker mince, and corned beef hash along with some pulled chicken.
The chicken, bolognese and the mince are both great bases for many other meals and will come in handy for quick and easy meals through the month.

I also made some homemade burgers with my little burger press and popped them in the freezer and prepped another big batch of homemade flat breads to use as wraps, tacos and pizza bases.
There you go, hope you enjoyed seeing what I’ve been getting up to!
