Every week I share five frugal things that I’ve done during the previous week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life.
Hey!
1) I forgot to share this last week so I’m going to pretend it was this week… 😁
It was Miss Frugal’s Birthday last week and even though she’s older now, I still like to make a bit of a fuss.

(who can believe that she’s actually 23!!!)
I bought some cupcakes in place of a full cake as I saw some amazing ones at the Farmers Market on the morning she was coming around to visit and on the way home, I stopped off to get her card and saw some bargain balloons – this little lot came in a pack and cost 13p!

I love a bargain so I bought 5 packs of these 13p balloons so I’m all ballooned up for the next years worth of Birthdays I reckon. I got a couple of these packs with a pink themes, some that had a blue theme and a multicoloured pack too.
Moral of the story – when you see a brilliant bargain, stock up. 😁
2) I took my bags for life to the shop with me this week which absolutely isn’t rocket science, I know.
But if I don’t take them, I have to buy 3 or 4 bags for life which is 80p and whilst I know that is never going to break the bank, it’s so much better in my pocket than anyone else’s and if I forgot to take them every time then that would actually work out at over £40 a year.

So many people don’t take bags for life with them when they go shopping and it’s such a waste of money, as well as the fact that it’s really not good for the environment so I genuinely encourage you to always remember to take your own.
3) Some of the rooms in our new house (if all goes according to plan) are in need of new flooring pretty much straight away. The main bathroom for example is carpeted and the carpet is coming out as soon as we can get it out for obvious reasons. 😁
We had a wander around a couple of the local flooring shops this week to get an idea of costs for the flooring throughout the house and we found a sale on lino in one of them as they’re closing down for a refit and had some discontinued lines that they were selling off.
We found a piece of lino that we loved for the bathroom and it was right at the end of the discontinued roll and the very lovely man in the shop sold us it for £15!!!
We were literally stood in the shop looking at the floor plan of the house on Right Move while trying to remember what the room looked like so we went way over the measurements that we need just in case and still only paid £15 for it so I’m super pleased with our bargain!
4) It’s been a bit nippy this week so the slow cooker has been well and truly put to use this week. Instead of a Sunday roast on last weekend, we put some potato and carrots into the slow cooker with some OXO cubes and a couple of tins of corned beef and we had enough for tea on Sunday for us both and then Monday and Tuesday night packed lunches for my partner who was on nights.

That’s four, super filling and warming meals – and the night shift portions were definitely bigger than a normal portion as I’m definitely a feeder when it comes to night shift meals.
It came to about £6.50 to make in total including some bargain tins of corned beef from the local farm shop (£2 each), some carrots and potato from the same farm shop and then some OXO cubes and gravy granules so worked out to be amazing value
5) This week, I’ve activated a voucher for a free hot drink in Greggs using the Octopus loyalty app, used Subway rewards points to buy a salad for lunch and got a free brownie from Lidl.

I didn’t used to use many loyalty apps but now I have them all on my phone and in my Apple wallet where possible and I use them wherever I can. The rewards aren’t huge and can take a while to add up bit it takes about two seconds to open my Apple wallet and scan a loyalty card so I might as well do it.
Hope you’ve had a successful money saving week too. See you next week.
