Every week I share five frugal things that I’ve done during the previous week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life.
Hey!
1) What better way to start a post than to share some bargain flowers that I got this week…

I love having fresh flowers in the house and a bargain bunch is so much prettier than a full price bunch if you ask me. 😁
These beauties were reduced from £6 to £1.66 and they’re just the thing to cheer up my post-holiday blues this week.
2) We got back from Iceland last Saturday night and on the Sunday, the kids came over for a catch up and asked if we could nip to our local farm shop for some bits.
I bought a big tray of XL eggs for £6 and some random bits of fruit and veg for between 40p and 60p each. I always buy fruit and veg there where I can as (a) they’re usually bigger and better quality than supermarkets, (b) they’re usually cheaper per item than supermarkets and (c) you can buy individually so if you just want two or three, you can just buy that.

I also love the added benefit of supporting a local family business and reducing the food miles of the food we’re eating.
After a couple of visits with me over the last few months, I am weirdly proud that the kids now ask if we can go there when they pop over and they have started to buy more of their food there as they too like the value for money but also, it’s cool to shop at a farm shop apparently.
3) Remember me saying that we bought waterproof trousers from Vinted for our trip?
Well by Sunday teatime they were re-listed on Vinted for pretty much the same price as what we’d paid for them.
By Wednesday, they were both sold although I did accept offers on both pairs, 😁
4) I made something.

And it looks OK.
I made a draught excluder for our new house from a piece of cheap fabric that I bought from Vinted.
I’ll share properly how I made it at some point but for now, just know it took me an hour and even with the matching piping that I used, it still didn’t take me long at all.
It cost about £5 to make in total including the piping and the Liberty fabric off-cut and I hope that it will come in useful when we move as the house is a big old Victorian with big rooms and lots of doors – I think there’s 15 internal doors in total so my thinking is that at least one of them will be draughty so it will come in handy.
And if not, at least it will look good.
5) It’s been a couple of weeks since I shared our meal plan on here as I felt like the posts were a bit repetitive thanks to the fact I only have about ten meals in my meal planning repertoire. I’ve still been planning our meals though and I am absolutely trying to increase the number of meals that I cook as I was definitely stuck in a bit of a meal planning rut for a while there.
This week, I sat down on Sunday afternoon and planned this week’s meals and seeing as there was a couple of new meals in there, I thought it might be one to share on here.
Monday – Corned Beef hash made with some bargain tins of corned beef (from our farm shop), some potatoes (from the farm shop also) and some carrots and peas (from the freezer).
Tuesday – Jacket Potatoes with egg mayo topping on mine (don’t judge) and BBQ beans for A.
Wednesday – There was just me for tea as A was at work so I made butterbean and lemon stew which was AMAZING! There was enough left over for lunch on Thursday too.
Thursday – Gammon and egg
Friday – Homemade pizza night
Saturday – Homemade burgers, spicy airfryer wedges and salad.
Sunday – Sunday dinner.
I say this every time I share a meal plan but honestly, planning our meals saves me so much money as I can plan based on what we have in and what’s on offer when I go shopping.
I do sometimes change our meals while we’re shopping if I see something on offer – this week for example, Thursday was going to be a Sausage tray bake but I got a good piece of gammon from our farm shop so I made a cheeky last minute change. Jacket potatoes were a last minute substitute too after the farm shop had some lovely big potatoes that were perfect for jacket potatoes.
