Every week I share five frugal things that I’ve done during the previous week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life.

Hey! 👐
So, this last week has been a big week!
This happened…

Things moved a bit quicker than we were expecting but if all goes to plan then we’ll be moving house at some point.
It’s a big deal to us and a bit overwhelming but whatever happens, happens. Just wish us luck! 😁
1) So, my favourite start to this weekly post is always sharing a bunch of bargain flowers and this week, I actually have two to share this week and both were super cheap.
You know how much I love fresh flowers in the house but they can feel like a bit of an unnecessary buy when you think about it. The two bunches below cost me just under £2.50 in total for both and they’re seven days in and still looking good.

I don’t normally buy roses as I’m not a fan of them generally but this little bunch was reduced to £1.49 and I thought they’d look nice in this little jug that I recently collected from my old house along with loads of other stuff that I’d pretty much forgotten I even had!

This little bunch of chrysanthemums was reduced to 99p and there were so many flowers that I actually cut the stems down and divided them between three smaller vases that I arranged in a little group on top of our bookshelf.
Usually I just buy flowers when I’m shopping and I see some reduced but I actually went to the shop specifically to get a couple of bunches to look pretty when people were viewing the house as we got a few bookings lined up the same day we gave the go-ahead to the estate agent.
I always thought that evening was the best time for flower bargains but these were bought from Tesco on Sunday lunchtime which isn’t a time I would have expected bargains. They had loads though – if you’re into the big fancy bouquets they had some of those reduced to £4 and seeing as they have a 7 day freshness guarantee on them in Tesco then you can pretty much be guaranteed a week of flowers.
2) I promise it’s not all home-selling stuff this week but this week, we decided to brighten up a few rooms ready for the viewings as we had a few walls that were looking a bit dated and in need of a refresh.
The paint was about £20 but it’s made such a difference as soon as you walk in the house.

The estate agent said painting walls isn’t going to add value as such but it will help buyers be able to see themselves in the house better which will make them more emotionally connected and more likely to put an offer in.
It was hard work as we ended up having to do it in just one day around work and airport pick ups but we started it and then got viewings booked in for the day after so we had to get it done no matter how busy we were.
3) We spent a couple of hours this weekend tidying out our Summer house which has pretty much been used as a dumping ground for the last year or so.
It used to be a really good space but we had a car boot sale last Summer and an hour in, the heavens opened and there was a huge downpour that the weather app neglected to tell us about. We just gathered everything up and dumped it in there when we got home and it’s pretty much stayed there since.
And you know what it’s like, if somewhere needs a good clear out then it’s super easy just to add more junk in there.
So we decided it was time to clear it out to make some space and make some money at the same time by selling some of the things we knew we wouldn’t need or want if we moved house.
These Ikea drawers were the first thing to go on Facebook Marketplace and sold within an hour.

Next to go was our patio heater, a blender, and then some random car bits. All the cash has gone into a little pot ready for our holidays next month so it’s cleared some space for us, made it look nicer when buyers are looking around and made some money at the same time.
The stuff from last years car boot sale has been sorted with anything damaged by the rain going in the bin and the rest in big bags ready to go when we manage to find time to do another one.
4) My strawberry plants have well and truly died now thanks to some over-enthusiastic watering, I suspect. 😁 But all is not lost, my tomatoes are thriving…

They taste so nice and there’s actually enough now to add to a salad!
5) Tea tonight is minced beef and onions and Yorkshire puds.
The mince is out of the freezer as I cooked double last week when we had it and froze everything we didn’t eat. It was a huge batch that I made in the slow cooker with the usual mince and onions in there but also lots of peas, carrots and potatoes in there too.

I got it out of the freezer last night to defrost so it’s ready to heat up in the oven tonight with some Yorkshires.
Hope you’ve had a good week and saved yourself lots of money. 😁
