I know I’ve said this before lots of times but Miss Frugal has a very individual style when it comes to her clothes and she likes to wear clothes that are a little but different to what her friends are wearing. She doesn’t own a pair of jeans and her only concession to fashion are her Converse – three pairs at the last count.
I think it’s great that she’s found her own style and she doesn’t feel the need to wear the same things as everyone else but it does mean that buying clothes can be a bit of a nightmare. She seems to have some sort of two point checklist in her head whenever she looks at clothes:
- Does my Mam like it?
- Is there a chance any of my friends will have the same thing?
A yes to either of the above will probably mean that nothing on earth would make her wear whatever it is.
She tends to not like children’s clothes that are aimed at children her age and she’s tall enough now that she can wear an adults size 8/10 but finding clothes that are age appropriate that she actually likes is practically impossible on a budget!
That is, until I remembered favourite shop – eBay! We spent a lovely hour or so last week ‘shopping’ together on eBay and you’ll be amazed at the clothes she got considering I gave her a relatively small budget of £20.00 to buy her ‘new’ clothes with.
She bought (with my help obviously) a Top Shop shorts suit, a boo hoo dress and a River Island dress – all age appropriate and all lovely. She didn’t even spend her full budget and we used the rest at Tesco the next day buying a skirt and top:
I’m sure you can see from these pictures that she has a slight Converse obsession. So imagine her excitement this week the lovely people at Cloggs sent her a gorgeous pair of pink tie dyed Converse. I think she thought she’d died and gone to heaven! I’ve tried to get a bit of a review of out of her but all I can get is ‘Awesome’, ‘Gorgeous’ and ‘Perfect’!
From my point of view, they’re clearly comfortable as she’s never out of them and very practical as she always has on one of her pairs and they all look in great condition considering how often she wears them. They’re also easy to clean which is a big plus when she climbs trees in them!
So, I’m pleased with how she spend her clothes budget but not sure she’s ready to be in charge of buying all of her own clothes just yet!

Love her style. Slightly jealous of her outfits! X
I never thought about buying clothes from Ebay. I'll remember to look there first before we go clothes shopping again. Last time we went it cost nearly £20 just for a matching t-shirt and leggings set for Kaycee and Ella.
I love that your daughter has her own style and doesn't follow the crowd. She looks gorgeous 🙂
Wow those converse look fab! Love all her clothes, great style
This is a lot of new pieces for just £20… job well done
Better to have your own style than follow everyone else's – she has very good taste and I love her converse
love the Topshop short suit! I'd totally wear that myself! x
LOVE that green dress especially – really suits her. GG is a huge fan of converse too 🙂
Your daughter is a very funky dresser! I think it's great that she wants to look different to everyone else. Nothing beats a bit of individuality.
I'm loving the converse! It's great that she has her own style 🙂 x

How lovely that she has her own sense of style rather than just copying everyone else!

Blimey! I can't believe how well she (and you!) did for under £20! And I do like those Converse.
She's quite the fashionista!! Boys, at least my boy, really isn't in to fashion lol!
Some lovely stuff! And well done for sticking to the budget, £20 is great! Hope you can keep her sensible like this when she grows up 🙂
Ah she did really well, she has some lovely stuff there x
Ooh I love that green and pink dress- I would wear that! She looks like she has good taste to me, converse are one of my staples too!
She looks great! I think it's fantastic she is finding her own style at such a young age and not following her friends. I would never have thought of e-bay for children of that age but it is a great idea and she got lots of great items!
Wow! All of that for £20 well done! Love the look especially the high top boots 🙂 x
It's great she can handle her budget at a young age. Converse are great too!
Such a sweet girl! Great that she has her own unique style.
