If all goes well, as you read this I will have just taken off on our family Summer holiday so I thought I'd do a kind of 'what's in my hand luggage' kind of a post today.First up, my bag is genuinely my husband's worst nightmare as it doesn't have a secure fastening and he's convinced someone is going to help themselves to everything that's in there which is why I'm not allowed custody of the tickets, passport or money. I'm only allowed my Macbook as it's got things on top of it so it's almost impossible to steal that without a good rummage around in there. Also, it's hidden at the … [Read more...]
Why you should always check Trip Advisor before a trip (and why you should take some reviews with a pinch of salt)….
Today, I'm going to tell you why you should always check Trip Advisor before a trip but also, why you should take some reviews with a pinch of salt.Have I ever told you that I used to work as a travel agent? I worked in a small independent travel agency for about five years after leaving school and I absolutely loved it and not only because I got at least two holidays a year either free or massively reduced. ;-). No, the main reason I loved it was because I love to travel myself and I really enjoyed being able to help people find their perfect holiday knowing that they're going to have … [Read more...]
A Perfect Weekend…. {Part 1}
Last Thursday, I boarded a plane at Newcastle airport and set off on a bit of a journey - a journey that would not only take me to the other end of the country but one that I hoped would help me to begin the healing process after my Dad passed away last month.I'd originally planned a cheeky weekend away at the Flea Retreats Blogging Weekend which was a gift from Mr Frugal at Christmas but after my Dad died, I was very tempted to cancel the weekend entirely. In the end, after some convincing from my lovely little family, I went the other way completely and booked an extra night away at the … [Read more...]
My Wanderlust update….
Last year, I made a promise to myself that, as a family, we would travel as much as we could afford to during 2017. I've been reflecting on 2017 over the past few days so I thought I'd share a little update with you to see how we got on.If you're interested in know why we chose to spend a good proportion of our spare money on travel during 2017 then you can find out why here but the result of our decision was that we spent a lot of time hunting for bargains and saving money where we could to be able to afford to pay for our travel plans. It's not a decision we took lightly because … [Read more...]
Girls Christmas Shopping Day in London….
We're huge fans of rail travel and over the years, I've shared so many of our train journeys with you. Last weekend was one of my favourite train journeys yet...Miss Frugal and I, along with one of her friends, decided to have a bit of a cheeky Christmas shopping day in London to mark the start of December. The men of the house decided that a shopping day in London was definitely not something they wanted to do so they stayed at home and did boy stuff (not sure what but it involved football, gaming and McDonalds).You might think we were a bit mad braving London on the first weekend … [Read more...]
Visiting the Top of the Rock, New York….
I know it's been about six months since our trip to New York but there's still so much that I want to share with you! Today's post is all about visiting the Top of the Rock!Visiting the Top of the Rock was at the top of my must-see list when we were planning what we were going to do during our trip to New York but due to a fear of heights, it was actually at the bottom of Miss Frugal's list and she really, really didn't want to do it!The Top of the Rock is the name of the attraction at the top of the 70 floors high Rockerfeller Centre in case you were wondering. ;-)I managed … [Read more...]
