It's no secret that my favourite cocktail is a Mojito and Miss Frugal is following in my footsteps as her favourite drink is a Mockito which is the non alcoholic version of a Mojito so when we decided to banish the boys and have a Girls only night, we knew what we'd be drinking! To make our version of a Mockito, we just chop us some fresh mint and put it into the bottom of a tall glass. Next we half a lemon and squeeze the juice into the glasses over the mint before chopping the limes into small pieces and adding the chunks to the glasses. We then use a wooden spoon … [Read more...]
Carrot and Courgette Muffins….
These carrot and courgette muffins taste way nicer than they sound and are perfect for freezing for packed lunches. When I was rooting around in my fridge yesterday morning looking for some sort of lunch inspiration, I found a couple of courgettes that were looking way past their best. I also found a few tired looking carrots so I thought I'd try making some carrot and courgette muffins as a way of using them up rather than putting them in the bin.The finished result was delicious although they were quite moist (hence me adding in the step to the recipe of using kitchen roll … [Read more...]
50 filling and frugal packed lunch ideas….
Do you struggle for interesting but frugal packed lunch ideas?A couple of years ago I wrote about how I could make a healthy and filling packed lunch every day for around half of what I would pay for a school dinner and whilst I know that rising prices would have changed the costings a little bit, I can still make a packed lunch for less than I would pay for a school dinner.I still make the packed lunch cake and the cheesey pops (like cheese straws) on a weekend sometimes to use in the following week's packed lunches but as the kids have got older, they like a bit more variation in … [Read more...]

#PerfectSunday – Cinnamon Toast Recipe….
I work on a Saturday about once a month usually and I always find on those weekends, because I only have the Sunday off, I'm determined to make Sunday a great day. Today's no exception and we've started the day in the best possible way - with cinnamon toast for breakfast. It's more like cinnamon eggy bread really but it's absolutely delicious and this morning, Master Frugal decided he wanted to make it himself so I didn't even have to make it (although I did do the actual cooking).Cinnamon toast is one of those things that most people know how to make but rarely do so I'm going to … [Read more...]
How to make Sugar Mice….
If you've ever wondered how to make sugar mice then this is the post for you because I'm going to show you how to recreate these little cuties. Before I start though, I did want to show you a picture from the first time I shared a 'how to make sugar mice' post on this blog. ;-) For some reason, I thought it was OK to use orange food colouring in the absence of pink food colouring and then to make it even worse, I used red icing for the eyes. What do you think? They really are the stuff that nightmares are made from! They look horrific and I have no idea why, but I still … [Read more...]
