As much as I love my family, it drives me mad when, no matter how many times I tell them, when they use the last of something the box does not go back in the cupboard! I've lost count of the times that I've got something out of the cupboard or the fridge only to find that the box is empty! It drives me loopy, especially when I've already melted some chocolate ready to make cornflake cakes and find that the big box of cornflakes in the cupboard is empty and there's only about a handful left in the rice crispies box!I had nothing else in that would work so I was torn between abandoning … [Read more...]
Five things you can make using a wafflemaker (and none of them are waffles)….
Last week I got some John Lewis vouchers sent to me as a thank you for something I did ages ago - so long ago in fact that I'd managed to forget they were coming so you can imagine my delight when I opened the post and saw the vouchers!I thought about buying something sensible like towels or something totally unnecessary like a handbag. I even considered getting a head start on some Christmas shopping but I kept wandering back to the waffle maker that I've been lusting over for the last few months.I've been tempted by the delicious pictures that Tanya often posts of the creations she's … [Read more...]
Super easy iced bun recipe….
Miss Frugal and I are planning a little bit of a mini afternoon tea at home this afternoon so I thought I'd have a go at making some mini iced buns to serve. I had a good look online for a good iced bun recipe but in the end I went for a bit of a mix of them all as they were all pretty different calling for everything from salt to lemon rind and from vanilla to cinnamon. I even came across one that just involved adding sugar to a shop bought bread mix which is worth considering if you want even less faff than my super easy version.... I'm sharing it again because (a) it's been a long … [Read more...]
Strawberry lemonade Kool Aid cupcakes!….
We have a shop near us that sells American sweets and a couple of weeks ago, there was much excitement from the kids (and maybe me) when they started to stock Kool Aid drinks sachets. They weren't expensive so we stocked up on some flavours thinking we'd be back for more in no time - we bought strawberry lemonade, grape, pineapple, lemonade and one I can't remember the flavour of but I know it was bright green when we made it up.When we started to make the first one I was more than a little horrified at the amount of sugar you have to put in! For a small sachet of Kool Aid … [Read more...]
