I don't know about your child's school but ours recommends that we read with our children for at least 15 minutes a night.  We also have spellings to learn each week and about an hours worth of actual homework each week to complete.Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with helping my children to learn and I genuinely believe that it's as much my responsibility as it is the schools to provide them with a well rounded education.  But, if I'm honest though, I don't read with them every night.  In fact, I probably read with them less than once a week - does that make me a bad parent?I … [Read more...]

I'm really enjoying taking part in Project 365 and even though this week has been a funny old week, looking back at the pictures has made me smile....The spider incident - poor Mr Frugal had to come and rescue me as I hate spiders. So tired after his first few days at school he was sound asleep by half six! This is Master Frugal's first attempt at Instagram although I did think he was quietly playing Angry Birds on my phone. We've been feeling a bit sorry for ourselves this week - apart from the usual post-Christmas blues, we've been ill with this stupid virus that everyone seems to have at the minute.  Most days we haven't even got dressed and we've spent the day watching films, playing games and generally doing nothing.I'm going to try and join in with Project 365 this year by posting a weekly round up of my favourite photos of the week although to be fair, looking at this weeks not very interesting pictures, it's clear that our first week of 2013 hasn't been very eventful ;-) … [Read more...]
