My problem is that, as much as I love having a tidy house, I'm not great at putting in the time to do the housework itself. I have managed to develop a bit of a system over the years to help me keep my house looking tidy with minimal effort though, it just takes a bit of delegation and a little routine. Here's the five things I think you should be doing each day if you want to have a tidy house with minimal effort.... Hoover or sweep your floor I always think the house looks tidier if the floor is clear so every day after school one of Master Frugal's daily job is to hoover downstairs … [Read more...]
Review: Fitbit Blaze….
As you might know, I've been trying to lose weight this year and was doing pretty well until (a) my motivation vanished and (b) I went on an all inclusive holiday and put some of what I'd lost back on again which was expected but demoralising all the same.Monday is the day I've had in my head to get back on track so I'm getting prepared with my Slimming World meal plan and my new little gadget, the Fitbit Blaze is ready to help me get my motivation back. When I opened the box and first saw the Fitbit blaze, I must admit that it looked very much like an Apple Watch although I now … [Read more...]
How I manage my Work:Life:Blog balance….
I love blogging and all of the opportunities that it brings us as a family but if I let it, it could very easily take over my life as there's always something that I could be doing.I also love my job which is fun, challenging and not too badly paid for what I do.And it goes without saying that more than anything, I love my family. We’re going up!
Growing up, I was never a huge football fan whereas my brother was a season ticket holder for Boro and I have some quite hay memories of him coming home from the match on a Saturday afternoon being unable to speak as he'd shouted that much at the match. But then, in the mid nineties, Bryan Robson came to the Boro as Manager and he changed the club forever in my eyes - he signed players who no-one ever would have expected to have come to a small club like Middlesbrough. Players like Juninho, Emerson and Ravanelli suddenly had the world talking about the club and it was an exciting time to … [Read more...]
How to encourage children (and grown ups) to ‘think before you speak’….
We've all heard the saying 'think before you speak' but sometimes, it's easier said than done!Have you ever opened your mouth and instantly regretted the words that have come out? I know I have and I can think of at least one example in the last month where I've said something and instantly wished I could take back. And if it's that hard for me as an adult, just think how hard it is for children to be careful of what they say! With this in mind, I saw a poster this week which I really loved and wanted to share it with you today because I think it's a great way to help children (and … [Read more...]
2 Ingredient homemade hair detangler….
I don't know what Miss Frugal does to her hair when she washes it but everytime she gets out of the bath, her hair is a mass of knots and tangles. To make it easier to comb through before scalp plaiting it for bed (she loves curly hair) we usually spray on a little bit of our homemade hair detangler which really does work wonders. We have a spray bottle that we usually use to make our homemade hair detangler in but last week we made up a smaller bottle ready to take on holiday with us. As I was making it, it occurred to me that I'd never written about how we made it before so I took a … [Read more...]
