Now that we're officially into Spring here in the UK, there's a nagging little voice inside me that's telling me that it's time for my annual Spring clean!I have a two proper thorough deep cleans every year - the first is around this time of year in Spring when the sun starts to shine on a regular basis and the second is usually at some point in November in time for the Christmas decorations going up in December.Obviously I do clean regularly in between but these are proper deep cleans where I set aside a weekend, enlist help from everyone in my family and go through the house … [Read more...]
How to up your #Shelfie game….
If you follow me on Instagram then you'll probably already know how much I love a good bunch of bargain flowers and at least once a week I stalk the reduced section of our local supermarkets to see if I can find a good deal. If you time it right, you can get some gorgeous flowers that will look fab for a good week for just a pound or two.I often see some great reductions on houseplants too but I've always avoided them in the past because I don't have the best record with managing to keep houseplants alive! But last year, I couldn't resist this little guy for £1.50 so I popped him in my … [Read more...]
How YouTube can save you money….
I used to think YouTube was just for the kids to learn how to build things in Minecraft but when I was off work poorly a while ago, I realised that was most definitely not the case!I couldn't even begin to imagine how many videos are available to watch on YouTube but I do know that whatever your interests are - there's going to be something on there for you.I started watching YouTube when I was off work because I was lonely through the day when everyone was at work and school andI'm not a big TV watcher so we don't have a TV in our bedroom. I thought you might like to see the step by step process in case you want to make your own photo shelf or wall....(Top tip - before following these … [Read more...]
Using milk paints to upcycle furniture….
Today I'm going to share how you can upcycle a table using milk paints, something I learned at a class I went along to recently as part of my mission to create every day and spend a little more time on me!I love the idea of using milk paints, which is something I hadn't even heard of until I went to the Festival of Thrift last month but now that I've tried it, I'll definitely be using it again! Basically, milk paint is a non-toxic paint which contains no additives or distillates that can cause any harm to people, pets or the environment. It's made from iron oxide pigment, milk casein … [Read more...]
How I updated my kitchen on a £10 budget….
Could your kitchen do with a bit of a refresh? I've just given my kitchen a super quick, super cheap budget makeover and I'm so pleased with it!We've got a few things that we want doing around the house over the next few months and to be honest, the kitchen wasn't even on my makeover radar until lovely Mr Frugal got out the paint one Friday night a few weeks ago and painted it a lovely clean white for me. We haven't painted it since we moved in so it was in desperate need of a refresh and seeing it look all white and lovely makes me very happy! We do have bigger plans for the … [Read more...]
