Last week, I shared the results of our charity shop shopping trip with you and if you had chance to read it, I think you'll agree that we got a lot for our money.I've also shared in the past the results of our ebay shopping exploits which were almost as successful as we bought a Topshop playsuit, a Boohoo dress and a River Island dress - all for about £13. They've been worn lots so were great value for what we paid for them! But where else can you find bargains if you need some new clothes?I have a few sites that I keep an eye on....SocialDiscountNetwork - Can be quite … [Read more...]
Fashion Friday – Charity Shop Style….
It's no secret that Miss Frugal loves her clothes and she has such great style that sometimes I can't help myself and I do let her buy clothes that she doesn't necessarily need (unless you count really, really, really wanting something as needing)!BUT, as I'm trying to teach her, money doesn't grow on trees so she does have a budget when we're clothes shopping and she's quickly learning that she'll get more clothes for her money on eBay, in the sales section of shops or in charity shops. I gave her £10 a few weeks ago to buy some new Summery bits and bobs and she did a brilliant job, … [Read more...]
Fashion Friday – Style on a budget….
I know I've said this before lots of times but Miss Frugal has a very individual style when it comes to her clothes and she likes to wear clothes that are a little but different to what her friends are wearing. She doesn't own a pair of jeans and her only concession to fashion are her Converse - three pairs at the last count.I think it's great that she's found her own style and she doesn't feel the need to wear the same things as everyone else but it does mean that buying clothes can be a bit of a nightmare. She seems to have some sort of two point checklist in her head … [Read more...]
Fashion Friday – Who chooses the clothes in your house….
I've been criticised in the past for saying that I let my children choose their own clothes and I'm curious to see if I'm the only one who does that because I genuinely can't understand why someone would make their children wear clothes that they don't feel happy in. Miss Frugal is 11 and she has very individual taste in clothes - she has one pair of skinny jeans and one pair of track suit bottoms in her wardrobe which are rarely worn but everything else is less mainstream for an 11 year old. In the Summer, she spent most of her time in maxi dresses and shortsuits and now it's winter she's … [Read more...]
Fashion Friday – the one with the Converse obsession….
Gone are the days when I could choose either of my children's clothes for them. I remember when I used to be able to lay their clothes out on a morning and they would put them on happily without a murmur. These days Miss Frugal and I very rarely agree on clothes - mainly because of the grown up nature of a lot of the clothes in the shop aimed towards her age group. She sees her idols on TV and in magazines wearing grown up clothes so naturally when she sees them in a shop in her size she wants to wear them herself. That's when I have to explain to her that some clothes are not suitable … [Read more...]
Magpie Monday – A Whole New Summer Wardrobe – The Frugal Way….
Miss Frugal's had a bit of a growth spurt lately and the majority of her clothes are suddenly too small, too tight or too short (not to mention 'I'm not wearing that anymore!), so I've just spent this morning buying her a whole new Summer wardrobe on Ebay and I'm really pleased with the bargains I got. Even more importantly Miss Fussypants approves of everything I've bought which makes a change! 10 tops / t-shirts, 2 cardigans, 2 skirts, 3 pairs of jeans, 5 pairs of leggings, 2 dresses, 2 pairs track suit bottoms, 1 short sleeved jacket and 3 pairs of … [Read more...]
