This Christmas has felt a little different for me and I shared a little bit about why that was a few weeks ago so I'll not bore you with that again. (You can read my post here if you want to though) I wanted to be really intentional this year and to enjoy the build up to Christmas without putting any pressure on myself to make everything perfect - in the past I've stressed out over everything from advent calendars to days out and from finding the perfect presents for everyone to presenting the perfect Christmas dinner. There was no way I was putting myself through all of that again … [Read more...]
Christmas Movie Night {Free Printables}….
I don't care how old the kids get, a Christmas movie night is always a must-do in December. It started when they were younger and every Christmas Eve we would make a big deal of going to the cinema to watch a film. It was a tradition that the kids loved and looked forward to every year as did I but for different reasons - for me, it was a few hours of peace amidst the chaos of Christmas eve. I could relax while the kids were happy and quiet. 🎄These days, it's a tradition that we have continued even though they're all grown up. It's a little bit different now as … [Read more...]
How to Say No to Christmas Invitations (Without Feeling Guilty)….
Christmas is such a lovely time of year, but it can also be one of the busiest. The closer we get to December, the faster the invites seem to roll in. Work parties, drinks with different friend groups, meals out, family gatherings, a quick catch-up that somehow turns into a full evening… it all adds up. Some of these things I genuinely look forward to, but others? Not so much.In the past, I’ve pretty much said yes to everything because I didn’t want to offend anyone or seem anti-social. I’d accept the invite and show up, even when I was exhausted or completely overwhelmed (which, … [Read more...]
Thrifted Christmas Decorations: Why Second-Hand Sparkle Is the Best Kind….
I’m definitely not one of those people with a picture-perfect, colour-coordinated Christmas tree that looks like it’s just stepped off the front of a magazine. I actually was that person for a couple of years — but only by accident! We’d just moved house right before Christmas and somehow lost our tree in all the boxes. So, on Christmas Eve, we ended up tree shopping at the last minute. One of the big stores was selling off their display trees, complete with all the matching silver, white and lilac decorations, for a ridiculously low price. I think we paid about £15 for a seven-foot tree that … [Read more...]
16 Wonderful family traditions to start this year….
A Christmas family tradition doesn't have to be something your family have done for years and years or something that's been passed from generation to generation. It can be something you want to do each year with your own family so why not start a family tradition right now?Christmas seems to come around faster every year, and the older my two get, the more I realise it’s the little things we do together that make the season feel magical. The presents and the big days out are lovely, but it’s the quiet, cosy traditions — the ones we repeat year after year — that really stick. Those … [Read more...]
Candy Cane Spoons….
If you’re planning a cosy Christmas movie night or making snowman soup with the kids, these candy cane spoons are such a fun little extra. They melt into hot chocolate beautifully, add a lovely minty sweetness and look so festive on a Christmas Eve drinks tray. They’re surprisingly easy to make too, which is probably why they’ve become one of my favourite little homemade treats to whip up at this time of year. 😊I was so pleased with the way my candy cane spoons came out. It’s not often that something I picture in my head turns out exactly the way I hoped, but these cute little … [Read more...]
