Gingerbread just is Christmas to me. The smell of it baking takes me straight back to cosy December afternoons with the kids, decorating biscuits at the kitchen table and trying not to eat more icing than we used. There’s just something about gingerbread that feels like the official start of the festive season – warm, spicy, comforting and so ridiculously moreish. 😊Last year, Master Frugal made the most amazing homemade gingerbread wreath at school and honestly, it stopped me in my tracks when he brought it home. It looked gorgeous. When I shared a photo of it on Instagram, my … [Read more...]
Candy Cane Spoons….
If you’re planning a cosy Christmas movie night or making snowman soup with the kids, these candy cane spoons are such a fun little extra. They melt into hot chocolate beautifully, add a lovely minty sweetness and look so festive on a Christmas Eve drinks tray. They’re surprisingly easy to make too, which is probably why they’ve become one of my favourite little homemade treats to whip up at this time of year. 😊I was so pleased with the way my candy cane spoons came out. It’s not often that something I picture in my head turns out exactly the way I hoped, but these cute little … [Read more...]
Three Ingredient Oreo Truffles….
These three Ingredient Oreo Truffles are the tastiest homemade sweets you'll ever make and if you can decorate them better than me then you could even give them as a homemade gift.I first made a batch of these little beauties a few years ago and at the time, I couldn't believe how something so simple to make could taste so amazing! When I made them originally, I had one or two (maybe three as they're very more-ish) and then left them to set. I started to write the recipe up as I was super excited to share them my new found amazing recipe with you all but before I could come … [Read more...]
Super fun rice krispies pops with Easter sprinkles….
These super cute Rice Krispies Pops with Easter Sprinkles are so easy to make and I guarantee the kids will love eating them almost as much as they'll love making them with you! We've made something similar to these cute little Easter treats at Christmas before but we moulded the Rice Krispies into something resembling triangle shapes and decorated with some green candy melts to make them look like Christmas trees but that was when the kids were younger and weren't too cool to make things like this with me. It's been ages since I've made something fun like this but last weekend … [Read more...]
Nana’s Traditional English Trifle….
I first published my traditional English trifle post a good few years ago now but with the jubilee celebrations approaching, I thought I'd reshare it because my lovely Nana would have been over the moon with me sharing her with you all!I am planning to make it myself for the Jubilee celebrations so I'll update the photos when I do (if I remember)! My Nana used to pride herself on two things - her split pea soup and her trifles! When I was about six, I told her that she was the best 'trifler' in the world and I'm not exaggerating when I say that from then on, she reminded me of … [Read more...]
Mini Egg Fudge – with just 3 ingredients….
This super easy, 3 ingredient mini egg fudge is really just my way to justify buying the family size bag of mini eggs at the shop last night! My favourite fudge recipe ever is the quick and simple Kinder Fudge that I shared last year because not only does it taste AMAZING, it also takes about three minutes to make and literally works every single time. So last night, when a big family-sized bag of mini eggs jumped into my shopping trolley, I let them come home with me and decided to transform them into some mini egg fudge using my favourite Kinder Fudge recipe as a base. … [Read more...]
