I'm a pretty recent convert to Pinterest but now that I'm starting to get the hang of it, I'm hooked. You can use it to find inspiration, ideas and help for just about anything and the guided search option makes it so easy to find exactly what you're looking for. How to use the guided search function in Pinterest The guided search really self explanatory but there's a great video that Pinterest have made that gives you a quick one minute demo of how to use it - it's well worth a watch if you want to see how easy it is to use.Once you know how to narrow your searches down you'll have … [Read more...]
Amazing two ingredient homemade makeup brush cleaner….
According to Miss Frugal, it's a miracle that I've got to the age I have without realising the importance of makeup brushes. Who knew that the little applicators that you get with eyeshadow palettes are practically useless? Or that if you really want seamless foundation then you need to use a weird shaped sponge AND a foundation brush? If you're still as yet blissfully unaware of the need for a whole collection of makeup brushes then feel free to just skip this post. Or you could always buy yourself a set of nice makeup brushes (this is Miss Frugal's favourite brand) so you can try them … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {17th June 2016}….
1) When I cleared out Master Frugal's room this week I realised that there was a huge amount of Lego that he never played with any more plus various other toys from other the years. I made some of it into a pen pot holder to go on his desk and I'm so pleased with it. It was really easy to make - I just used a small flat Lego board from one of his kits and built up around it to the height I wanted which turned out to be 12 layers.2) We made our own Fathers Day cards using nothing but paper and sharpies - no special equipment or talent needed here. I can't reveal them before the big … [Read more...]
A tween boys bedroom makeover on a budget
Master Frugal isn't a fan of upheaval so for the last six months or so when I've been itching to get in his bedroom and give it a makeover, he's been begging me not to!It desperately needed doing though so as his coach pulled away on Monday morning for his three day school residential, I was practically racing back to my car to get started on gutting his bedroom with the plan achieving of a complete room transformation before he got home - on a pretty tight budget! Before: One wall looks worse than the rest as it had a huge self adhesive Avengers mural (here's what it looked like … [Read more...]
The simple way to get your own NUS card if you’re not a student….
Last month I read an article in the Daily Mirror online (I know, I don't usually read it but I'd followed a link to a different story and this one caught my eye) about how to get your own student NUS card if you're not a student.I didn't think much more about as I've had such a busy month but then last week at work I was speaking to a training company who I'm going to be doing a few courses with and the assessor mentioned that I'd not only love the course itself (not too sure about that but that's a whole other post) but that I'd also be able to apply for a student card. This got me … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {10th June 2016}….
1) When my Nana died I was quite heavily pregnant with Miss Frugal so I wasn't really in a position to help when it came to clearing out her home although I did take a couple of things of hers to keep as memories of her. I took a pretty battered looking big metal spoon which she used to use for her baking and a Forever Friends fridge magnet that I'd bought her years before - the spoon is used regularly in my own kitchen now and the fridge magnet is on the front of our knife block where I see it every day. The final thing I brought home with me from her house that last day was some small square … [Read more...]
