This is not just any cake in a mug – it’s a five minute chocolate cake in a mug.
But…. Before we go any further, I’ll be honest and tell you that it is not the best chocolate cake I’ve ever made but it’s definately the quickest and easiest one.
Ingredients
4 tablespoons plain flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
A few drops of vanilla essence
Mix together the flour, sugar and cocoa and add the egg, milk, butter and vanilla essence.
When you’re done, pour the mixture into a mug, the bigger mug the better, and cook in the microwave for about three minutes.
Don’t panic if it looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa over the top of your mug, all three of ours did but none of them actually toppled and within about 10 seconds of the cake coming out of the microwave it will sink – quite dramatically if ours is anything to go by!
One went from this:
To this:
The kids loved their cake in a cup and had fun making it as they could do all the mesuring themselves but it was way too much for them, next time I’ll either half the mix or make it once and put in into two cups.

(why do my replies keep disappearing)
Just made this for the little monkey, needless to say she loved it!
Ours is an 850 watt microwave.
It definately satisfies a choccie craving if nothing else lol
what a great idea
This sounds…… nice? – well it warrants a try anyway, as it contains chocolate LOL. I love the before and after pictures. What wattage is your microwave ours is 850 so we may need to reduce the cooking time.
Oh yummy! You're so bad for my diet!
it looks like a great one to do with the kids.
