I miss the ‘Dear Santa’ days….
Miss Frugal's 11 now and most definitely doesn't believe in Santa anymore. She didn't last year or even, I suspect the year before that either but she at least pretended for my sake. Slow Cooker ham in Coca Cola….
Foods like lemon and honey, tomato and basil, Nutella and peanut butter are all perfect flavour combinations. I wouldn't have put ham and Coca Cola on my list of favourite food combinations at all - until last night when we had slow cooked Coca Cola ham.My version of coca cola ham is a much simplified version of the Nigella ham in coke recipe as it doesn't have any fancy stuff in it ;-)It really couldn't be easier to make and the results are delicious.I always bring my ham joint to the boil in a pan for five minutes to get rid of any excess salt but I know lots of people … [Read more...]
Not quite grown up yet….
Both of my children are wishing away their childhood at the moment - they're at the in between age where they want to be older so they can be more independent and do new things but at the same time they're not ready to let go of some of their childhood cuddly toys.Miss Frugal who loves to play dress up, experiment with her make up and style her hair to within an inch if it's life always reaches for her favourite teddy when she's tired or feeling the need for a cuddle from him for whatever reason.Whenever we go anywhere that involves a night away or she goes on a sleepover, I can … [Read more...]
Fashion Friday – the one with the Converse obsession….
Gone are the days when I could choose either of my children's clothes for them. I remember when I used to be able to lay their clothes out on a morning and they would put them on happily without a murmur.These days Miss Frugal and I very rarely agree on clothes - mainly because of the grown up nature of a lot of the clothes in the shop aimed towards her age group. She sees her idols on TV and in magazines wearing grown up clothes so naturally when she sees them in a shop in her size she wants to wear them herself.
