This morning I dropped Master Frugal off at school (at the ridiculous time of 6am might I add) for his first school residential. He's going away for three nights which is by far the longest I've been away from him before and if I'm honest, as he rushed on to the coach with all of his friends laughing and chatting at the tops of their voices about how much fun they were going to have, a teeny tiny tear may have escaped.I just don't think I'm ready for him to grow up yet.I'm worrying now about what he'll eat, whether he'll miss me, who'll hug him if he hurts himself and most … [Read more...]
5 easy Steps to becoming more frugal….
(OK, there is a slight possibility that I *may* have lied about it being easy) 1. Know your monthly budget First things first, you need to calculate your monthly budget (you can use my free printable budget planner if it helps) and work out how much money you have left over at the end of the month. Then you can identify where you need to cut back and also have a better idea of how much money you have left over at the end of each month. 2. Stick to your monthly budget Next you need to get the hang of staying within your budget. If the money you should have left over doesn't match what … [Read more...]

Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {12th June 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. We finally got around to having a car boot sale (you can read all about it here) and considering it was quite windy and we were mostly selling Miss Frugal's junk things I actually think we did really well. Everything that we didn't sell went straight to the charity shop so I'd call that a frugal and de-cluttering success!2. This one involves a bit of a white lie so please don't hold it against me ;-)As I mentioned last week, Miss Frugal wanted a room makeover because she wanted her room to be a bit more grown up. We went to B&Q … [Read more...]
How to Make Gummy Bear Ice Lollies….
Miss Frugal has been taking more of an interest in blogging lately but rather than post on her own blog, she likes to share her ideas on here. She researches what she wants to make, makes me a little shopping list and then makes whatever it is, obviously being the child of a blogger she also knows to photograph every step of the way. ;-)So far she's made Shamrock Shakes and homemade Mint Lemonade and today she's turning her attention to ice lollies, specifically gummy bear ice lollies! She's made a little video to show you how to make these very delicious tasting lollies so I'll let her … [Read more...]
Homemade ginger and lime body scrub….
I first learnt how to make this a few years ago at a blogging event and I loved it so much that I ordered the ginger and lime essential oils from eBay I think it was as soon as I got home.I made it regularly after than but then my oils ran out and I never got around to buying more until recently when our local chemist had a selection on sale. I bought a couple and I'm going to make a batch as soon as I have more than two minutes to myself! It's a really lovely body scrub that not only smells great but the ginger and lime oils that I use also leave you feeling lovely and refreshed. You … [Read more...]
