1) We have a vegetable patch! It's not a huge patch but we've claimed a small corner of the garden where we've planted carrots, sweetcorn, lettuce and spring onions in a raised bed that we built, I've also moved my herb pot over to that corner along with two tomato plants and a chilli plant.2) We went to a BBQ at the weekend and decided to take something different to the usual burgers and sausages that everyone usually takes so we made a zesty green been and feta rice salad using some leftover rice and some random things from the fridge.I'll be sharing the recipe for this … [Read more...]
Small things that make me smile {July 2016}….
Without wanting to sound all woe is me, July hasn't been the easiest month for us as I've not been well at all recently. I'm a lot better now thanks to some very strong painkillers and I'm hoping that my appointment at the hospital this week will get me sorted once and for all so there's nothing to be overly concerned about. We've still had a lovely month though with some amazing highs so I'm going to focus on those today and share some of the small things that have made me smile this month.I'll start with an update on Master Frugal because he's made me smile a lot this month and … [Read more...]

How to re-upholster your Dining room chairs for under a fiver….
Remember last week when I told you all last week about my new dining room table and how it inspired me to finally reupholster my dining room chairs. I told you that it had cost me less than a fiver to do all four chairs and promised you that I'd let you in on my secret to keeping the cost down this week...I searched all over for some reasonably priced upholstery fabric that matched the vision that I had in my head for the four chairs that needed reupholstering and I couldn't find the 'perfect' fabric anywhere! I really wanted the chairs to be co-ordinated but different if you … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {22nd July 2016}….
1) The kids broke up for school this week and I haven't felt the need to fill the days with trips out or activities that I think they'll enjoy. Instead we've spent absolutely no money and had a chilled out start to the holidays with a couple of evening trips to the beach, an afternoon fruit picking and a picnic at Richmond Castle thanks to our English Heritage membership.2) Talking of fruit picking, I made some delicious strawberry muffins with the leftover strawberries which I shared with you all yesterday. Muffins are a great way to use up any leftover fruit that you have and I … [Read more...]
