This brilliant little DIY Paint Chip calendar is just what you need to be more organised (and stylish at the same time). When I went to the Festival of Thrift in September, I bought an amazing little book of those little paint sample cards - which I now know are called paint chips. I had no idea what I was going to do with it and I walked away from it twice but I ended up going back and paying £3 for it because I just loved all the amazing colours and knew there would be so much that I could make with the colourful samples.See, how could I possibly not buy that! The first … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {24 November 2017}….
1) I have totally won at meal planning this week - honestly, it's been a meal planning triumph. ;-)So much so that I'm halfway through writing a post to be shared with you on Monday with a photo of every meal we've eaten this week - assuming I manage to keep this up over the weekend that is.2) It's Mr Frugal's Birthday today and instead of buying a cake for him, I had poor Master Frugal in the kitchen last night slaving away making his amazing chocolate traybake which worked out cheaper and tasted so much nicer than anything we could have bought in the shops.3)I know I've said … [Read more...]
Hot Chocolate Stirring Stick….
This cute little hot chocolate stirring stick is so cute for this time of year - there's nothing better after a long walk in the cold than coming home to a lovely hot chocolate and stirring it with one of these yummy stirring sticks! They're so easy to make but look fab and when the kids have friends round, they all absolutely LOVE the novelty of these. How to make a Hot Chocolate Stirring Stick What you use is pretty flexible depending on what you have, this time I used some white chocolate star sprinkles, some mini marshmallows and half a leftover bar of dark cooking chocolate but … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {17 November 2017}….
1) Miss Frugal's phone bill with Giff Gaff is getting cheaper every month! When we were with EE she was running out of data (on a 4GB a month plan) within the first two weeks of the month. We switched to Giff Gaff and went with the £20 a month unlimited package with is 6GB or superfast data and unlimited 3G data after that's gone and thought that would do us. We told her to always connect to wifi when she could and to be sensible with her usage when she wasn't on wifi (no videos etc) and would you believe it? She actually listened! After two months we dropped the package down to the 4GB … [Read more...]
Quick and Easy Jelly Gummy Bears….
Today we're sharing out tried and tested (and re-tested) version of jelly gummy bears (and some syn free gummy sweets using the same recipe) along with a slightly embarrassing Pinterest fail version of their American cousins. The last time I made these I made Pink Prosecco jelly gummy bears and they were amazing....My children are obsessed with anything American - be it sweets, food or make-up (that last one is just Miss Frugal obviously ;-)) so when we found ourselves with a box of Jell-O they knew exactly what they were going to make - Jell-O Gummy … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {10 November 2017}….
1) Instead of having a fireworks display at home as we planned (until we worked out how much it would cost) we ended up going to an organised fireworks display which was lovely and completely free! We had been planning a bit of a display at home because last year we found the display at the rugby club in town to be really busy with way too many people crammed in but this year we went to a display in a village near where we live and it was much, much better. We obviously had sparklers at home but they were quite cheap - I think there were five for a pound in the packs we bought!2) … [Read more...]
