You probably know by now that we're joining in with #SecondHandSeptember this month. ;-) Last week I mentioned in our mini charity shop haul that we'd found a bargain 99p t-shirt and today, I've enlisted the help of Miss Frugal who's volunteered to show us all the different ways you can style the t-shirt so it's perfect for all occasions. The t-shirt she's using today is a H&M oversized black t-shirt which is the perfect length as it's just long enough to pass as a dress as well as be worn as a t-shirt. The best thing about it for me is that it cost just 99p from the sale rack … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {20 September 2019}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Before I start though, as always feel that I should say that being frugal to me is about getting the best value for our money - it's not about doing without for us or about not having nice things. We all have different financial situations and we're all frugal for different reasons. ;-)This week’s post is a bit different as I’m going to tell you five FREE things that I … [Read more...]
Review: The One World Observatory….
The One World Observatory is the highest point in New York and despite having two teenagers (and me) who really aren't all that keen on heights, we decided to visit last time we went to New York. The One World Observatory is right at the top of the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere - the One World Trade Center. One WTC is the main building of the rebuilt World Trade Center complex and even though I'm not exactly a building connoisseur, I think it's a beautiful building and I love the way it stands out in the New York skyline. It can be seen from all over Manhattan … [Read more...]
6 things I gave up to save money (and you can too)….
6 things I gave up to save money (and you can too)If you've been here a while then you probably already know that I like to save money whilst making as little sacrifice as possible.I'm absolutely not the kind of person to make everyone wear extra socks and jumpers and sit under a pile of blankets to save me switching the heating on - I'd much rather save in areas that don't make me feel like I'm having to do without if that makes sense. But there are some things that I've managed to successfully give up without feeling like I'm depriving myself... I stopped buying … [Read more...]
Easy Chicken Parmo Recipe…
If you've never heard of a parmo then I'm about to blow your mind with this super easy chicken parmo recipe...I'm pretty sure that about 95% of you won't have a clue what a chicken parmo even is so I'd best start by filling you in. Wikipedia describes it better than I can though: The parmo, or Teesside Parmesan, is a dish originating in Middlesbrough, Teesside, and a popular item of take-away food in North East England. It consists of a breaded cutlet of chicken or pork topped with a white béchamel sauce and cheese, usually cheddar cheese. … [Read more...]
September’s Frugal Fails – because I’m not always as frugal as you might think!….
This may come as a surprise to you (although more than likely not) but I'm not always a shining example of frugal-ness. ;-) I spend so much time on here sharing ways to save money and ideas on how to be frugal and rarely share much of the non-frugal side of my life so I thought I'd start a monthly post to share some of the slightly non-frugal things I've done! I hope it shows you that no-one's perfect This is the second post in my frugal fails series- the first is here and the second one is here if you want to see the last few month's frugal fails. Frugal Fail #1 - … [Read more...]
