One of my goals this year is to get back into the habit of taking photos. Something I really want to do because recording our life is the main reason that I blog.Photos are a great way to record life and I love looking through all my old photos. As this is the first Siblings pinky of the year, I thought it would be nice to share some of my favourite photo memories since I started blogging....The photos I chose aren't necessarily ones from holidays, days out or even any of the adventures we've been lucky enough to go on but they are photos that make me smile when I see the … [Read more...]
#SaveMoneyMonday – Use it Up….
Our house seems to be the home of the equivalent of a toiletries Bermuda Triangle here in our house now that the kids are getting a bit older and taking more of an interest in looking (and smelling) nice!I no sooner unpack a new deodorant or hair gel when it seems to disappear only to found half empty a few weeks later, by which time a replacement has usually been bought. This means that during our pre-Christmas clear out, we found three cans of deodorant, two tubs of hair gel, two lynx shower gels, a tub of chewy vitamins and a can of hairspray - on top of what we thought we … [Read more...]
The one with the sexist parent (me, in case you’re wondering)….
Miss F is growing up into a very lovely young lady who is everything I would want in a daughter - kind, caring, happy and loving (unless she's mid pre-teen hormonal mood). She's turned into quite a girly girl who loves clothes, make up and most other things that you would expect a 12 year old girl to be into.Except for one thing! She's decided that she would like to join the local boxing club and although I'm not going to say no, I really don't want her to go.It's not because I don't like boxing because as much as I don't like the sport itself, I know it will be good for her in many … [Read more...]
Slow Cooker Mushroom Risotto….
Risotto is one of my favourite meals but I can never be bothered with the faff of making it - all that stirring and gradually adding stock makes me not want to cook it as often as I'd like to eat it! So you can imagine how pleased I was when I discovered a few months ago that my trusty slow cooker could do most of the work for me!I know, I'm easily pleased aren't I?I've been making risotto in the slow cooker now for a couple of months and all of the variations that I've tried have been delicious. I'm going to share my version of slow cooker mushroom risotto today but you can make … [Read more...]
Don’t underestimate your bag of frozen mixed veg….
I like to make life easy wherever possible and I'm certainly not averse to the odd shortcut here and there. In fact, I'm more than happy to take advantage of anything that makes my life a bit simpler. My latest kitchen shortcut is frozen mixed veg - not exactly ground breaking I know but seriously, I love it. I'm sure all supermarkets do a similar thing but the one I've been using is the Tesco Value range which is ideal for cooking and adding to recipes as the veg is chopped into quite small pieces which makes it easy to eat for kids and I find that they're more likely to eat it because … [Read more...]
What to do with leftover Baileys Irish Cream….
First of all, if you're asking the question of what to do with leftover Baileys then I take my hat off to you. A bottle of Baileys rarely lasts past New Years Eve in this house so personally, my first suggestion on what to do with it would be to just drink it and enjoy it as it is.If you're still here and haven't left me to go drink your leftover Baileys then I'm guessing you'd still like some ideas. ;-) What to do with leftover baileys - make a no cook Baileys cakeThis is a super simple, no cook cake that makes good use of your leftover Baileys. All you need is a ready made flan … [Read more...]
