Things seem to have been so busy lately that cleaning the house has taken a bit of a backseat and we've been doing just the bare minimum needed to keep on top of housework. Don't get me wrong, the house isn't dirty in any way but I can look around each room and see all the little jobs that need doing and that annoys me. I can see a cobweb dangling right nowSo June is going to be my get back on top of the housework month - inspired in a way by the The Dirty 30 challenge which is encouraging us all to do 30 jobs over 30 days and has a great free printable so you can keep track of your … [Read more...]

Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {29th May 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. Contrary to popular belief, I'm planning on making more than just mojitos with the mint in my new little herb garden (actually mojitos was my plan but Miss Frugal had other ideas). So this week, we've made mint lemonade which I'll be sharing with you at some point over the next week and after that was a success we even made blueberry version. It tasted delicious - even more so because we made it with our own mint!2. The kids and Mr Frugal headed off to Wembley on Monday to watch their beloved Boro play in the Championship play off. They … [Read more...]
Wembley Bound….
I apologise in advance for writing another football related post for this week's Wednesday's Wardrobe but Master Frugal has had his Boro shirt on almost non-stop since we told him last week that he was off to Wembley to see them play in the Championship Play Off Final on Monday just gone. They had an early start on Monday as Wembley's a long way from us - they had to get from our house to the Riverside stadium first and then on from there to Wembley on one of the supporters coaches. They had to leave our house before 5am which made me a little bit grateful that I'd chosen to stay at … [Read more...]
Teaching Children about Money: When’s the right time to let your child have their own debit card?
Both of my children have received pocketmoney for a good few years now as I really believe that learning to manage their own pocketmoney is a great way to help them learn money management skills that will be invaluable when they’re older. We don’t have rules on what they have to do with their money as I’d rather they learned themselves so I don’t tell them what they can and can’t buy (within reason) and I don’t make them save a set amount out of their weekly allowance. I think this has helped them learn more because they've had the chance to make mistakes with their money – they now realise … [Read more...]
Are you a camper or a glamper….
We went camping a few years ago and had an amazing weekend - we barbecued, played family rounders, had a couple of great trips out, had water fights and in general, had some good old fashioned family fun. It was so much fun and amazing value for money considering it cost less than £40 for all of us to over the long Bank Holiday weekend. The one thing I wasn't keen on though were the nights and I can honestly say that I got hardly any sleep between two wriggling children, a snoring husband whose snores seem to be magnified 10x in the great outdoors and various trips to the toilets … [Read more...]
{Free Printable} A Bored Jar Fit for a Tween….
After my tween grew out of some of the activities in our old bored jar, I made her a bored jar fit for a tween! It's filled with ideas to keep her occupied over the Summer and I've even made a free printable for you so you can print off the ideas and use them to make a jar of your own.One of my all-time most popular blog posts is a post from a few years ago where I told you all about our Bored Jar and shared 80 ideas with you in case you wanted to make your own version. Ours has seen us through rainy days, school holidays and after school blues and we still have it now. … [Read more...]
