First of all, let me just say that I don’t drink that much (no matter what a certain someone will tell you) but I do look forward to a nice glass of wine on a Friday night and a few bottles of Kopparberg on a Saturday night. As you do
So when I first heard about the Go Sober for October challenge to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, I thought about it and decided it was a great idea. For other people!
I thought I would sponsor the people I knew who were doing it and it didn’t even occur to me to join in myself! That is, until I saw a post from Heather on Facebook about a group of bloggers who were going to take part in the challenge and without even thinking, I replied to say I’d like to join in.
I signed myself up and now I’m sat here telling you all that for the month of October, I’ll be doing without my wine and Kapparberg and anything else alcohol related. I did think it would be easy and then I looked at my Instagram stream to find a picture of a glass of wine to use for this post and found that I was spoilt for choice!
I’m pleased to do anything for Macmillan because they helped my family so much when my brother was ill and at his funeral, all of his Macmillan nurses came along to pay their respects which I found really touching. It must be such a hard job to do and they do it so well so I’ll do anything at all I can to help. If you don’t know my story, I wrote about it recently over on Mammasaurus’ blog. Have a read and you’ll understand why this charity is so important to me and my family.
We’ll all be really grateful for a donation – large or small.
