Poorly Puppy….


Poor little Buddy has had a bit of a traumatic week this week!  His usual morning walk on Monday morning wasn't to the field down the road for a mad run after his favourite ball, it was to the Vets in town to get his bits chopped off. Family Friendly Frugal Meals – Paella….


I'm not sure if I've said on here before but I started following the Slimming World plan in January although I don't go to the meetings as I can't really justify to myself spending £4 or £5 a week just to be weighed and have someone tell me how good/bad I'm doing (I'm sure it's more than that but you know what I mean).  So far I've lost a stone and apart from the occasional blip, I've found it really easy to stick to and I'm learning that the majority of meals that I cook can easily be adapted with a few tweaks here and there. How we make room in our budget for fun….

As I've said before, my main reason for being frugal is so that I can afford to work part time and spend more time with the kids. But (there's always a but).... It's also really important to me that, as a family, we have lots of fun together and even though I know there are plenty of things we can do together that don't cost a penny, there are also lots of things we like to do together that do cost money. Anyone for a Cake Pop….

I've just made some cake pops for Miss Frugal's sleepover tonight and they've gone down so well that I never even got to try one!  I'm going to share the recipe with you anyway though but you'll have to trust the word of three nine year old's and a six year old that it was a success ;-) For the cake pop: 1 Sponge cake - I made one using the classic Victoria sponge recipe of 100g sugar, 100g butter, 2 eggs and 100g flour. 80g white chocolate 50g butter Few drops of vanilla extract 100g icing sugar Once your cake has completely cooled you need to crumble it as finely as you can … [Read more...]
