My money saving resolution is to eat healthier and drink more water. I have ditched the junk foods and fizzy pops and bought a soda stream – this will save me loads of money on carbonated drinks.

Take public transport.
Well we are going to continue without a car this year. We have saved so much money since the last one died on us and we really have not missed it.

I'm going to try to turn the heating down or off when I can.

I save money by making my own beer and wine. I can make wine for about 40p a bottle, and beer for 20p a pint! Cheap night in!

to be sensible when doing the weekly shop. and to sell unwanted stuff on ebay
PS Please don't get hung up on sell-by dates – it is all part of the supermarket conspiracy. Use your eyes and your nose, cut off mouldy bits and cook thoroughly – you will be fine!
I love saving people money on their bills, it is a real win:win situation. We have been saving money with Utility Warehouse for nearly 10 years now – it is very comforting to know that we have consistently got the best prices available. All the above moneysavers are already permanent features in my house and I have always enjoyed meals made out of leftovers better than the originals.
We have a "Hermann" Friendship Cake which makes baking a doddle and you can just bung anything from the cupboard or fridge into it to flavour it. Each week I add some flour, milk and sugar to an ongoing "starter", and stir it daily. Every two weeks I divide it into three – give away one starter, start another up for myself and then bake with the third portion. It is fab – contact me direct if you would like one.
Good luck with the savings everyone!

Your doing a lot of the things that I am, Its amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it and you then realise how much youve been wasting in the past.
Luckily I was brought up frugily so I am quite good at living like this! lol
Goodluck

Lots of money saving going on, invested in a log burner, lots of free wood laying about if you look. Loving the slow cooker for cheaper cuts of meat. Walking lots more so have cancelled my gym membership (Thats where I see all the free wood out on my walks) and swap plants etc, always grow too many of one type.
This year, i am going to use all the food in my fridge and larder and not throw it away. So if I make a curry, lasagna it will have anything thats going out of date in it.
My money saving resolution is to cycle to work more and take public transport a lot less.
to ensure no wastage of food by using left overs to make soup or stew. My kids are so fussy that we end up with so many options at dinner. I also plan to walk more to save on petrol.

Get my teenagers to pay for more of the things they want out of their own money, such as chocolate, cinema visits, branded hair care products, trips out with friends and items where they would happily choose the more expensive option because I am paying. This will save me money and cause them to think twice before they spend. With the savings, I intend to pay for Car and house insurance policies as a cash one-off payment, instead of taking expensive monthly payment plans.
We've taken to shopping after evening work, around 9.15 p.m. There're lots of bargains, especially in bread. We once bought four packs each of four turkey escalopes, marked down from £4 each to £1 … and then found there was an overall reduction of £4 if you bought four packs. So, the net price was £0 for sixteen turkey escalopes! That was Christmas dinner sorted out cheaply!
Using the bikes more for those short trips that we don't really need to use the car for, gets you fit as well!

Our resolution this year is to cook fresh rather than rely on ready meals and pre packed items. The first shop of the year was a little more expensive with herbs and spices etc, but we have noticed a real difference in price since (around £20 a week) and the meals are that much healthier the adults have lost weight!! Bonus!!

Our resolution for the year is a bit of a weird one…but… theres a point to it.
Its to live to a strict ration diet (and small budget) in a bid to get healthier and save money. Naturally theres going to some frugality involved and it takes a while to rap your mind round the food part of it… but we're enjoying it so far.
The money saved is going to a (by then much needed) holiday in 2013 so really this is more of a 1.5 year resolution.
We started it not only for ourselves but to see if rationing would be a good idea for families in general today. We hear soooo many people saying they cant live on the £££ they get in… and that kind of started us thinking.

My money saving resolution is to try and continue with the meal plan and to ensure that any leftovers of anything are reused and not thrown. The best way to save money is to eat frugally!
