Are you one of the 25% of people in the UK who doesn’t have any contents insurance?
If you asked me what the first thing I would save if there was a fire in my home, I would say, without any hesitation that it would be my family, then I’d run back for my USB sticks as they’ve got all my special photographs on and if I still had time (it would be a slow spreading fire lol), I’d grab a few sentimental items from my special things cupboard etc.

I wouldn’t even think about anything else, not at the time anyway. I imagine it would be afterwards when we’re all safe and sound that I’d start to think about the practicalities of everything and then I’d worry about replacing all of the material possessions that would have been destroyed or damaged. I know that they’re only material things and aren’t really important in the grand scheme of things, but they are my material possessions and I’ve worked hard to pay for them.
That’s exactly why I have home contents insurance and why I can’t believe that so many people don’t have any any! It comforts me to know that if the things I’ve worked hard to buy were damaged or stolen, I would get them replaced.
So to those of you who don’t have any home insurance – get some
(and to those of you who do have home builings and contents insurance – make sure you have a great deal
)

I used to have contents insurance – until the day that my then 2 year old son managed to spill a glass of Irn Bru on my television, while the insurance man was there. Even though he backed us up, the company still wouldn't pay out. So I cancelled and have never looked back since.
Thats ridiculous – no wonder you have no faith in it!
I don't have content insurance, which pays for the damage or loss of individual's personal possessions. I guess I only have health insurance, which I usually pay monthly. Maybe I'll think of availing content insurance but I have to check if it is available in my place. Thank you for the interesting article.
I'd really recommend getting some contents insurance….
