Protect your child’s eyes….

According to the Telegraph, our children should be wearing sunglasses from the age of 3 to protect as their eyes more vulnerable to damage from the sun than grown ups eyes because their corneas, lens’ and fluids are clearer, which allows more light to reach the retina.

The article goes on to say that parents are quick to protect their childrens skin by applying sun tan lotion at the first sign of sun but the majority of parents wouldn’t think about protecting their children’s eyes and you know what, I’m one of those – I never really thought about buying ‘proper’ sunglasses for my two.  They do have a pair each (Barbie and Spiderman I think) but I have no clue if they provide the right level of UV protection so I’m going to make sure that we buy them a pair of sunglasses each before the Summer.

It’s probably the wrong time of year to go shopping for them as the shops won’t have all their Summer stock in yet but it’s probably just as easy to buy sunglasses online these days.  Probably easier with kids as if we were in a shop, I know my two would want to try on EVERY single pair, whereas this way they can just pick their favourite, I hit the buy button and pass the computer to Mr Frugal to pay ;-)
