We love snowglobes here and every year we buy a new one to add to our collection. We haven’t seen one we like yet this year so thanks to some inspiration from MakeDoMum, we decided to make some Christmassy snow globes of our own
What do I need to make my very own snow globe I hear you ask 
Well, you need a small glass jar, it’s a good idea to check your jar for water tightness before you start as I didn’t think of that and it was only after we’d finished that I realised that Ikea spice jars are possibly not the most watertight containers I could have used! You also need some sort of thing to put in your snowglobe, we used a mini Ben 10 figure and a Hello Kitty figure that we had lying around, some blu tac and some glitter.
First of all, you need to blu tack your toy to the lid of the glass jar.
Send your child into the freezing cold snow and get them to fill the jar with snow. Alternatively, just fill the jar with water.
Add some glitter to your jar trying to avoid getting it on the floor / on your clothes / in the cup of tea your mother is drinking!
Put the lid back on the jar and turn upside down and voila, you have a home made snow globe.
This is the point that we found out that our jars were not entirely waterproof as they start to leak slowly after a couple of go’s. Therefore, we are still on the look out for this years Christmas snowglobe. Let me know if you see any nice ones….

Great idea!
RE: water tightness – wrap 'plumbers mate' (it's a white waterproof thin, tacky tape that plumbers use and relatively cheap) around the glass on the 'thread' then screw on the lid. Should stop any leaks!
I made a snow globe last year and was so shocked at how easy they are to make! Those turned out super cute and I'm sure your kiddos just love them

hello, I have found you via Thinly Spread. Oooh my 4yo would love this. Maybe we could make a fairy one to go with the fairy house she is making. Maybe could have a jam jar the right way up and cover the top in something – like those fairies in a jar you see in gift shops? Oooh you got me thinking!

We have a million and one little toys lying around that the children never play with, what a great use for them! I adore snowglobes so I think we will be making these next week now the children are off school.
