It’s funny how you forget the things you used to love doing when you were young and then something reminds you of it and you get to have fun all over again with your own children. The other day I read a fab post from Cathy at Nurture Store about wax crayon pictures and remembering how much fun I used to have doing this, I couldn’t wait to try it with the kids.
All you need for this is a piece of paper, some wax crayons and something to scratch out your picture (we used a wooden skewer).
Colour in your whole sheet of paper using different colours, it really doesn’t have to be perfect and the more coloursyou use, the better.
Next, use the black crayon to colour on top of your colours, if you have more time you can do yours better than ours but this is a ‘Quick Craft’ and we were only filling time before Mr Fugal came home from work and for some reason, the paper we used had a bit of a ribbed pattern on it that we didn’t notice until we started on this bit!
When your paper’s covered in black you can start to scratch out your picture, we went for fireworks as that seemed like the easiest thing to draw (that and the black crayon bit takes it out of you and took a tad longer than we thought lol).
We love the end results and we might even try it again just before Bonfire Night so we can make a little firework garland….
